View Full Version : DP bleemCast Compatibility List

There is a compatibility list for bleemCast already online but it's not filtered or moderated in any way and as a result has loads of errors. So I decided to start my own list. I have a Dreamcast always hooked up so this software is more than just a curiousity, I want to know which PlayStation games it will play WELL.
I'll update this from time to time, but thought I'd share my findings with everyone. Note that if it says "Very Good", it's very good as in 90% playable or better. Games listed as OK are playable but with sacrifices like missing soundtracks, glitchy graphics, or bad slowdown. I noted briefly the issues where appropriate.
If you've got something to add, particularly to the "Very Good" list, please let me know! I have over 500 games and am going about testing in a very scatter-shot way.

What's your qualification for the levels here? Just curious because you have Einhander as an OK where as I think if you turn off the sound, you wouldn't know anything was wrong (and I played pretty far in.) Seeing that game running at high rez almost brought a tear to my eye.
Also I can add this:
Any FMV is gonna be screwy.
Most sound is gonna be screwy.
Specific games:
R4, plays well, menus a little weird, usual sound and FMV problems.
Capcom Generations 1, plays, but the water in 1942 looks like floor tiles.
RayCrisis, plays, a little slow, me thinks
Metal Slug X, plays, but something was screwed up, I just can' remember.
You named a bunch I know I tried, and I can't think of others off the top of my head.
I've seen a lot of people harping on this becaue it won't do this and it won't do that, and it makes me kind of sad. People have to keep in mind this is a pre-E3 beta and the creators are pretty miffed about it getting out just because it's no where near what they wanted it to be. Still, I think it's cool for what it can do and I'm only sad they didn't get to finish it the way they wanted to.

You're right about Einhander, I'll move that to "very good". If the game is totally playable, with no serious graphic glitches (like the common one - blood or sweat drops appearing as tiny white squares!), and soundtrack issues that do NOT affect the gameplay, it's "very good".
In other words, if it's something I might actually enjoy playing in bleemCast, and won't make me wish they had done more with bleemCast, it goes on the "very good" list.
I had Einhander confused with G-Darius which has some nasty slowdown moments.
List updated. Thanks!

UPDATED.
I was very happy to find that the two latest Natsume releases, Gek-i-oh: Shooting King and Turnabout work fabulously with bleemCast, as does the top 50 title Roll Away. Game ON.
Are there any other updates?

Hi, I've always wanted to test out and try this stuff using the BleemCast disc. But I'm kind of stuck with no way to get it and no CD Burner. If anyone would be able to make a copy of the disc for me and send it. I will send shipping/cd costs via PayPal before hand. Please let me know in a PM if anyone could help out.
Thanks very much and I'm sorry to go off topic.
Anyway, does anyone know if these games work...
-Final Fantasy(any of them)
-Twisted Metal(any of them)
Thanks again.

I believe this was talk about the leaked beta release of bleem!cast. I actually just found about it last night, but after searching some torrent sites I've come up empty handed. It doesn't sound like it has very high playbility with anything, so its nothing more than a discussion piece really.

Wow, this topic has risen from the grave, I forgot I even did this!
To answer your question, there's a bleem! boot disc floating around the internet. This beta allows you to put ANY PlayStation disk in, but as noted at the top of this thread, it's limited in which games really work well if at all.

The company no longer exists, so maybe itīd be OK to let us know where to find it?
Thanks :D
Download DC++ and go into the hub named Dreamcast. You'll find many copies there.

Try using Emule (AKA Edonkey 2000) for hard to find files. Bittorrent Links burn out to quickly.
I'll have a look when I'm done getting some other stuff off of Bittorrent. you can run both at the same time but you will end up with errors after awhile.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 plays near perfect. Some colors are wrong but doesn't effect game play at all. Sometime the sound cuts out but you just have to go to options and toggle on the volume control to get it back. Overall I would say its a 9 out of 10 for compatibility..

Final Fantasy VII does not work unfortunately. :(
However I seem to remember Vampire Hunter D working almost flawlessly and MediEvil II trying very hard to work.

the tony hawk games all work pretty well, some weird colors once in a while, some of them you have to toggle the sound through the menu for some reason... BTW I need an ISO of this thing, or at least a torrent :D

I took the liberty of testing all of the PS1 shmups that I own yet again just to be sure of their compatibility. Here are the results:
----
R-Type Delta - works near perfect, can't see high score after level completion though
ThunderForce V - works great, some audio skipping every once and a while (can be fixed by pressing timeout)
RayCrisis - works great, visuals are in-tact, some slowdown, music skipping here and there but mostly plays good
Raystorm - runs smooth overall, but many laser attacks are too transparent and difficult to see which makes boss battles incredibly hard, music is flawless
Gekioh: Shooting King - plays smooth, but has serious sprite overlay problems, no music running, sound effects sound cut off
Xevious 3D/G+ - Xevious Arrangement works, but has sever slowdown, Xevious and Super Xevious will run at normal speed with perfect audio in normal screen mode (non-tate) but the background sprites are all broken up, xevious 3D/G will run great but the audio is skipping constantly and is only playable by completly turning your TV volume down
R-Types - won't boot
In The Hunt - won't boot

I tried a few this past weekend. I tried R-Type Delta with no luck. Maybe I have an earlier version? Maybe I did it wrong? I'll try again later this week.
Warhawk (EARLY 3-D shooter) won't work at all.
G-Police 2 (LATE 3-D shooter that pushes the PSone pretty damn hard) runs pretty good... sound effects are hard to hear and there is a lot of sound gitching overall but the graphics are fast and tight.
Tobol 2 (Japanese) runs slowly... maybe 15-20 frames per second (it runs at 60 on the PSone.)
Strike Force Hydra (PAL) sucks to begin with and runs really slow but it does play.
Super Dropzone (PAL) runs slowly but the things that I'd expect to NOT work (the radar, for instance) work just fine.
X2 (PAL) doesn't boot up. Dammit! I wanna play this shooter!
Kirikou (PAL) doesn't boot up, either.
I'll try to remember the others I tried and post them...

Is yours a PAL version? I was testing the North American version. All of the titles I tested above are NTSC-U/C.

No, it's the NTSC-U/C version. However, I was doing a lot of switching and restarting and such... I might not have waited long enough or something? RayCrisis - works great, visuals are in-tact, some slowdown, music skipping here and there but mostly plays good
Raystorm and Raycrisis ran just like yours. Some skipping mostly plus things looked a little darker than normal but they ran pretty darn well and the smoother and cleaner graphics looked sweet.

I just have a couple of questions.
Does this boot disc work for multi-disc games?
Has any consideration been given to how well the controls for the listed games maps to the DC pad?

Apples and Oranges - the appeal of Bleemcast is usage on the DC for smoother play on a standard TV.
Speaking of which (though it's WAY off and may never happen), Chui put up information awhile back concerning a totally new PlayStation emulator for the Dreamcast, PSX4ALL. Don't get your hopes up as it's only in the extremely early planning stages, but if the time can be found and something does come of it, it could be amazing.
Chui also created the Neo4ALL (NeoGeo CD), AES4ALL (NeoGeo AES spur of Neo4ALL), DCaSTaway (Atari ST), and SNES4ALL (recently begun new SNES emulator) emulators for the Dreamcast. All are in various states of development.

So wait I'm totally confused on this bleemcast thing.. Is there a boot disk available that will run all those games? I looked up bleemcast and saw that there were only 3 commercially released games that came out.... metal gear, crash bandicoot and grand turismo? Where can I find this bootdisk, I'd love to try out xenogears on this even it's in the "ok" category. Someone hook me up with a link to the disk..pretty please.

Research into the world of Dreamcast homebrews is your friend. There's so much out there you really need to look it up on your own, you're not looking for a commercial release, rather a homebrew project. Wiseman once said...
"Master using it and you can have this."

Thought I'd add to the list...
TOBOL 2 runs somewhere between "OK" and "Not Good". It looks GORGEOUS (almost like a Dreamcast fighter) but it runs SLOW. The main appeal of this sequel was its 60 FMS action and smooth, smooth graphics... it looks great but runs SLOW SLOW SLOW. This superb Squaresoft fighter was never released in the States (the first one was, but the sequel is FAR better... well over 100 playable characters.) I was surprised to see that Bleemcast supports some imports.
VS. is a far less notable fighter released around the same time as Tobol 2. It also runs somewhere between "OK" and "Not Good" with a very slow frame rate and glitchy music.
Thrill Kill does not work at all.
Bugriders gets to the select screen and then freezes.
Twisted Metal 2 runs nicely but the Dreamcast controller isn't mapped for ANY weapons (you can select them but not use them... no machine guns, either.) The option screen is so dark that you can't see where to reconfigure the buttons.
I can confirm that Bravo Air Race (on the list already) runs GREAT... almost too fast to play!

Doom - Long Box & GH
Final Doom
Alpha 3 takes a LONG time to load and will only work in Shortcut mode (will crash otherwise); some missing graphics (lifebars etc) but works.
Final Doom freezes after the Bleemcast screen disappears. The others I don't own.
