I know someone has to have a system down on finding cheap, good condition (preferably new) PS2 dvd cases.

I am trying to figure out the easiest way to get 30 PS2 games from Japan to the US, and I was thinking of flattening all the inserts into a rigid document case with the manuals & packing the disks in those sleeves that hold 2 disks each. This would cut down the weight/volume immensely, but I would need to replace the cases.

Cheapest method for obtaining 30 blank official PS2 cases...

Opinions? Suggestions?

Double Game PS2 cases are very hard to get,

Options for obtaining 30 Cherry PS2 dvd cases? Dumpster diving at Hollywood/Blockbuster ect... I kid not! That's whare I've gotten mine.

Yeah, I know the double ones might be a bitch to find. I will probably keep the double ones & white Gran Turismo 3 case and ditch the others.

There has to be a way to source these new & empty, right? Or do auctions ever go up with just blank PS2 cases?

I need this plan to work for me!!! ;p

yep, dumpster diving is a goldmine for video game cases. ps2, gamecube, gba, wii, 360, they've got them all. or, you could always just ask for them. some blockbusters will give them away (but others won't).

Red Octane (http://www.redoctane.com/gamecase.html) used to be the place to go to order packs of brand new PS2/GC/Xbox cases, but anymore I don't know :(

Good luck! These are the hardest to find! GameCube and Wii cases can be ordered direct from Nintendo. Xbox and PS2 game cases are very hard to find new.

I once called Sony and asked if I could purchase them. I was told that they do not sell them seperately and that their suppliers are not allowed to sell them seperately either! I asked why, and was told that they are under contract.

It is a believable response, I just wish I could find them as well!

I purchased some so called NEW Xbox game cases from a seller on eBay. When the package came (it was postmarked three weeks later) the cases were no where near new! Point is: Good luck in your search and let us know what you find out!

One last thing: I define NEW as never been used! It amazes me how many sellers on eBay sell game cases, advertise them as new, then tell me that they have only been used a few times......

wow...looks like this may be impossible

if I could somehow find $1-2 used PS2 games with good condition cases it would be ok but still take a lot of effort

I can't believe they won't sell them new

fair enough, I know what you mean. some stores do give them away though if you ask. after all, they just throw them away in the end anyway. it's worth a shot, because they get rid of hundreds of cases every week.

do those Target PS2 demos come in the official dark blue PS2 cases with the manual clips?

If so, this sounds exactly like what I need to do.

When buying Jampack games, be careful, some of them come in regular dvd cases instead of PS2 cases (they're missing the memory card slot). The best way to tell if it has the memory card slot is to gently squeeze the back of the case. If you can feel the CD tray indentation in the middle of the case it's just a normal dvd case; if the CD tray feels like it's below the center, then it's a normal PS2 case.

This is what I do and it is a little more expensive but worth it!

Go to Toys R Us and buy up every $4.99 budget title they have!

I told you guys long ago that I have OCD and everything must be MINT, right?

This is just one of my little secrets.....

costly I know.....

I buy the PS2 demo discs at TRU for cheap (I'll only bite when they're under $1.00). The only problem is that PS2 demo cases aren't exactly like PS2 DVD cases. They don't have a slot for memory cards. Not really a big deal though, since they look the same on the outside.

check my last post. Earlier ones are all normal PS2 cases, and even some of the newer jampacks have memory card slots.

That surprises me. I've never had a Jampack case with the memory card slot...and I've been buying them since early 2003. I do have a ton of them sealed. Maybe I have a few "real" cases and don't even know it.

I just bought 2 copies of Madden 2002 for .99 cents each at GS just to get the cases. Cheapest games that I saw there.

I have the worst luck finding old sports games with decent cases. It seems like most of the people that play 'em and trade 'em in like to beat the piss out of them :(

My problem is I need mine new and MINT. Nothing worse than putting a MINT RARE game in a crummy beat up game case! I have tons of used cracked cases, but it would be great if Sony, like Nintendo, would just sell them NEW seperately!

That's funny that someone said they are OCD about it and need mint cases, I'm exactly the same way and in fact, take medicine for OCD. I have been having a problem finding replacement PS2 cases for a while now. I buy a lot of used games and the cases either have sticker residue or are grimy. The best I have found is cheap (under $2) JamPack's at Target and Best Buy.

I sure wish you could order these from Sony like I do with DS and Gamecube cases from Nintendo. Nintendo has their cases for like $1 dollar each and less if you order more.

Also, thanks for the dumpster diving tip, I'm going to check out my Blockbusters. I have absolutely no problem digging around a dumpster if nice looking cases are in there. If anyone finds a source for getting new cases, please share.

Just don't get caught back there. Not sure if stores are as lax as they used to be, but there's a good chance there's a shit load of credit card info in that dumpster and you really don't want to get popped by the 5-0 being knee deep in that stuff at 2am. I'd probably ask the manager if they have any they're going to chuck out, just to be safe.

No, they shred that stuff. I'm not 100% on that but I don't believe they just throw credit card info out in a dumpster. Not only would that be a major problem if people find out that their credit card info is just thrown in a dumpster where anyone can get to it but I would imagine a lawsuit could be brought if someone's identity was stolen.

I don't know, I'm not too concerned with getting in trouble over a quick dumpster dive. I'm not even sure it's actually against the law. I know Blockbuster itself probably wouldn't like it but I don't give two shits about them.

I'll be sure to post if I get any cases, get yelled at or have any run-in's with the fuzz. :)

The online Nintendo store used to carry the double disc cases because I remember ordering a few from them. I just looked and it doesn't look like they have it listed for sale anymore. Bummer, I don't know then.

Maybe try giving them a call: 1-800-255-3700

I have found those in the dumpster as well, though not very often. I have found every kind of case there is for newer games, save for DS cases.

As for credit card info, they do shred it. We find bags and bags of shredded paper when we go, which we promptly avoid like the plague.

That's a shame. The 2-disc cases were available for years on the nintendo online store. I'm glad I stocked up (I think I only have 2 or 3 left though).

Yeah, I think I only have 1 of the two-disc cases left now. Makes me think ordering some new gamecube cases now would be a good idea. I don't want to be having this same conversation in a couple years about how I can't find cube cases. I think I'm going to head over to the Nintendo store and stock up now.

That would be a good idea. I just ordered twenty for myself. Who knows when I'll need them, but just in case I happen to find that MINT copy of Ikaruga....

I'll have twenty new GameCube cases to choose from....great for my collecting OCD!

Funny i thought the same thing a year and a half ago. Ordered 30 game cases. Have used up 8 so far, and theyre still on sale.

On the flipside, I ordered 1 double disc gamecube case. And I have a need for those now, yet theyre all gone:(
