so i've finally gotten tired of looking at stacks of video games in disarray on my floor, and am looking for organization, can anybody reccommend any decent shelving units?

Yep first things first go to sears, you'll need a nice power drill, a few bits, a compound saw and a screwdriver. Next head down to lowes (I really hate home depot, but if you must). You'll need screws, 90 degree L brackets and 1X12's. Drill holes into studs as needed for height adjustment, insert 90 degree L brackets, cut the 1X12's to length, insert screws. Ta-da.

If you think I'm kidding, go check the prices of shelving. If your doing a true "room of doom" sized collection it might actually be cheaper to buy the tools and do it yourself. If your feeling fancy buy some stain. If you can't get the shelves quite flat you'll need a level. But still, good investment.

Two ways of going: Shelving units or building your own. Pending on whether you are in an apartment or not my nod goes to building your own. Plywood, brackets, and some sweat is the best way to make some kick ass shelves. I will post soon my new room of doom, that used like over 300 brackets.

I have three shelves two from walmart one wood and the other metal/glass both of these cost me altogether maybe 100 bucks and my third I built myself of real wood with stain it was a labor of love and is reserved for my finer things :) I managed to do free floating shelves its very cool love it!

Depending on where in Texas you are, hit Ikea (in Frisco and Houston). It's roughly $100 per unit when you factor in some extra shelves, but they go together easy and look good.

If you live in a house where you can screw up your walls as much as you want then I'd go with the bolt in option. If you are like me though and live in rentals and have to move every now and then then I'd get some shelving with more portability. I use a bunch of the tallest and widest 'Billy' shelves from Ikea. I have the corner unit too. They are pretty cheap and can be dissasembled fairly quickly if you have to move.

Nice! Thanks for the link. One of these will most certainly be my Christmas wish. I need some good shelving around here.

I caught a good sale at Target a few weeks ago and bought a 6 foot bookcase with 5 shelves (6, if you count the top) for $25. I was actually surprised by the quality of this thing for the price. No tools or wood glue needed and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Took about 1 hour to assemble from start to finish.

Here's a huge shelving unit. The shelves are all adjustable, so you can make them the proper size for whatever games/cases you put into it. On this web site, it's only $200, but at the only store around here that I've seen it at (Fry's Electronics) sells it for $300.
