Ever been mad enough to break a game, or controller? Well I was playing Chu Chu Rocket about 15 minutes ago and I've been working on the exact same level for nearly an hour now and just tossed the controller, now the joystick is broke. I fucking hate Chu Chu Rocket.

You just described my Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 experiences when I was new to them. I swear, when I would lose in those games, I would get so pissed. I was much younger back then and I didn't know any better, I really had to keep my anger level controlled better.

I'm 22 and I played that puzzle for nearly an hour and the more I fucked up, or the cat's ate the mice the more I got mad. Untill I couldnt take it anymore and tossed the controller and said "fuck this game".

I've seen a friend of mine get so mad at a game he broke the controller in half with his own hands.. (NES, SNES, and Genesis controllers)

Most of his controllers are in very rough shape haha...

I did.

I was playing Dig Dug on XBLA, when it first came out. The last achievement I was needed was the one where you have to dig the entire playfield.

I had dug the last little bit, when a pooka came up from behind me and killed my last guy. It took me almost 45 minutes to clear the damn stage, then I die, and didn't get the achievement. So I flung my controller into the wall, and it shattered into a few dozen pieces.

I finally got the achievement after a few days calming down, and a new controller.

indeed. I've never been that mad before. If I get mad I just move to another game or stop all together. I think it's better that way. (spend less in replacements lawl).

I've never have broken a control, but this one time i was playing SSBM on the cube, i was on event mode, on the adventure of link one, and i was stuck on it. After several failed attempts i eventually got VERY FRUSTRATED, so i yelled out some cuss words, slammed the control on the ground turned around and punched a fish tank my turtle was in. Now i didn't think it would break, but it did. After i cleaned the mess i had made, and washed up my hand, i continued to play, and out of nowhere i beat it. This caused more anger, but i didn't do anything else.....Lesson learned.....

I was playing a game of Madden 06 some time ago. The game difficulty is set to madden. I am ahead by 5 late in a game, late in the season. I should have the game in hand... I've been stopping them all game and all I need to do is NOT give up the bomb... I have defenders back, set for coverage... and, BOMB!!! For a TD! I spike the controller on the wood floor (ps2 controller). I broke it, then scramble to hit time out. Switch controllers, stop their 2pt try and with under 45 seconds left, hit one big run and pass and win... Soooo, I take apart the controller and basically it was out of joint so to speak. Easy repair, done. BIG sidenote, the controller had seriously worn sticks to the point I was ready to dump it anyway. Thats kind of why I spiked it, I was ticked I was using a dogged controller when I knew the replacement was at my ready. I only repaired it because i wanted to see if I could and what damage I did. I ended up ditching it asap.

That was the only time in _ _ years playing. No other casualties to report.

I threw Wayne Gretzky's 3-D hockey across the room, hit the wall and busted. Luckily it was Blockbuster's.

I broke a couple PS1 Dual Shock controllers and thats about it. I've been pretty careful with them.

I broke tons of NES/SNES controllers in anger as a kid. At least a dozen. About 3 or 4 PS1 controllers too and a few Dreamcast ones as well. Oh yeah, and an Xbox controller too (while playing MK Deception). Haven't broken any in a while though. Can't afford to do it when they cost $50 to replace.

Yes. One PS controller hit the wall at a high rate of speed and one SNES controller was broken in half. Breaking the SNES controller was very satisfying. :beaten:

I used to play my friend 1 v 1 on Halo for like $1-$3 a series. We were very evenly matched and this made it fun, but once when I was in a terrible mood, I went on like a 5 match losing streak. I took the controller, went to the balcony of the apartment & threw it down three stories onto the concrete.

When I was like 10 or 11 I broke a SNES controller but I am not sure which game drove me to that point.

The only game I've actually broken a controller on is Ratchet and Clank. There is a part where you just basically go into a room full of enemies and no matter how many times I tried it I couldn't do it, I slammed the controller against the ground and the side cracked open.

Serious controller twistage trying to beat Sigma in Mega Man X though. I haven't gotten mad enough yet to actually destroy one. I usually try to throw controllers on my bed or just drop them.

I've broken the joystick on an N64 controller (Not from frustration, from those spin-the-joystick mini-games in Mario Party). Never broken a controller out of frustration, though.

QFT. I've had friends that freaked the hell out and threw their controllers. I tend to treat my property well no matter how upset I am.

About two years ago my best friend was playing either Mega Man 2 or 3 in my room with a NES Advantage (his), and got so mad he threw it on the ground. The NES Advantage was old and kind of brittle, and it exploded into literally hundreds of pieces. I was stepping on shards of old plastic for months after.

But I've got you all beat--when I get mad at a game, I take the game out of the system and try to smash that. Breaking the controller is like killing the messenger. As a kid I broke Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball into a couple of pieces (it worked again after some reassembling and taping, although some of the plastic on the outside of the cart is broken off and lost forever), and I remember trying really hard to break Secret of Evermore (I took it out of the SNES and slammed it on the carpeted floor, and when that didn't prove satisfying enough, I slammed it on some tiled floor that I went to for that purpose... I never did get the game to break, though). I also once punched a great big hole in a closet door after getting mad at The Adventures of Bayou Billy. And, more recently, I was playing the GBA Mario Kart, and got mad and took it out of my GBA and winged it at the wall, only to have it break into several pieces (it was a bootleg that I accidentally bought on eBay, anyway). It worked again after reassembly, but won't save anymore.

The last boss of Illusion of Gaia pissed me off, which resulted in me chucking my controller across the room and it breaking into several pieces.

I remember trying really hard to break Secret of Evermore....

There is a very bad glitch in that game and it results in you having to start the game all over again. Basically, if you teleport out of one of the later boss fights, you can't re-enter the area and you're totally fucked. Let's just say that happened to me and I flung my controller at the game, resulting in the breakage if it's connectors.

Of course this all happened when I was 13 or so and I've since calmed down. The last game to piss me off was Siren, I tossed the controller on the floor and my R2 button got a messed up. The controller has since vacated to my friends house, who seems to be wearing it down while playing NBA 2K7.

Can't say as I've ever broken a controller, BUT.....I did wreck an NES back in the day. I don't remember exactly the timeframe, but it was something like a friend and I had stayed up virtually all night playing Castlevania. At this point, being 12 or 13, video games were more or less everything in life. So, when CV decided to randomly freeze after 12 or so hours of gameplay, I was a little put out, to say the least.
I was nice (at first). The game locked up where you couldn't move or do anything, but the graphics were ok, and the music was still playing. So I thought, maybe I could get my game back. After trying virtually everything I could think of, long story short, things went downhill for the NES in short order.
First, I grabbed the system like holding a sandwich, ripped it off the top of the TV, and threw it on the floor. Broke the power adapter in the process (still use the same one today, btw, duct tape and all...works great). Then, since that wasn't enough, I had to kick the system to the doorway of my room.
Probably a bad idea to kick it barefoot, as that really hurt, and just made things all the worse for the poor NES....I ran over to it (maybe 4 or 5 good sized steps to get a running start), and proceeded to kick it across the rec room football-style. (I think it was a good 10 yards or so, keep in mind, I am NOT wearing shoes). Now that REALLY hurt. At this point, my buddy is pracically falling over, he's laughing so hard. Being in pain from beating on my NES really got me riled, so....
I RAN across the rec room, and JUMPED on the NES! (I was not exactly the 100-lb kid in my youth). After jumping/kicking the thing to its death (and beyond), my mom came downstairs, and some loud talking/minor yelling ensued. (I guess Mom figured it was mine to break, and as long as I didn't break anything else in the house it was ok? I'll have to ask her one of these days). My friend here is trying not to laugh in my mom's face, he mostly succeeded, I guess. I remember picking up the pieces and throwing them away. My rage was satiated, but an unfortunate NES had to pay the price. The good news was the power adapter (as mentioned previously) still worked, as did the controller. Don't really know WHY I saved them, as I had nothing to play with or on, but I am glad I did. Kinda gives a little memorabilia to my NES now.
After that experience, I never wrecked anything else gaming related again. (an occasional wall got something thrown at it, but that was it). I (fortunately) have chilled out considerably since then, and now am about the most laid-back person I know. So none of my collection now has anything to worry about. Of course, I never did beat Castlevania.....yet.

Just a quick note. If you throw a PS2 ontop of a 2600, body slam style, the 2600 will win.

It is with shamefaced regret that I must admit that I once swung my PS2 controller by its cord into the floor, shattering it, after being pwned in a match of Star Wars Battlefront online.

I was never mad enough, although I've thrown a few around out of frustration. But my mom on the other hand... When I was a kid, several times, she cut the controller cords on our NES, as a form of punishment. Then a month or so later we would be permitted to go buy new controllers, or she may have felt bad and bought them for us. What rough times, huh?

I smashed my NES controllers a few times, knocking off a button on one of them. I also slammed my fist onto the top of the NES until the metal RF shield on the inside was touching the motherboard and shorting it out. I also used to hit my old TI Home Computer. My first one has a fist print in the top of it.

I did. Twice. A Game Gear and an original Gameboy.

For the Game Gear, I was playing Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade. It was one of the biggest pice of shit games I ever played and just thinking about it now makes me angry. I got pretty far with a bunch of extra lives stored up but I lost them all at this one part. Was pretty cheap too, like a stupid jump or something. After that I just lost it and smashed the GG on my forehead. The LCD creen was cracked and after that and I haven't played a GG since.

Couldn't remember what I was playing on the GB when I busted it but I broke it the same way by smashing it against my forehead.

I never got angry enough to the point to destroy a controller, But I did smash and burn a copy of pac man for the Atari 2600 because my DSL Box was messed up.

On a side note, I have broken several whammy bars on GH Controllers, But that is from overuse.
