Just got a ColecoVision, and it did not come with the cable (or box) to hook up to the TV.

Is there a compatible cord from another system I can use, like the SMS or NES RF boxes?

Mine works great w/ a SNES generic RF cable I got from GameStop.

I just used a length of garden variety cable with RCA connectors at both ends, and a spare Atari RF box. Nothin' even remotely fancy about the Colecovision in that respect.

As with all RF systems, a plain RCA female to coax male plug adapter is a better option than a switchbox for the best possible RF picture quality.

Yep, a missing RCA/RF/whatever cord and swtichbox is no big deal on the Colecovision.

However, a missing AC adapter most certainly is. As long as you've got that, you're OK.

Well, I tried my NES one and it wouldn't work. Haven't tried my SMS one yet.

urg, I want to get my Smurf on.

As I recall, there's something about the autoswitching mechanism in the NES switchbox that doesn't get triggered by older systems. I don't think the same is true of Sega autoswitchboxes, but I'm not sure since I HAVEN'T HAD TO DEAL WITH ANY SWITCHBOXES SINCE I GOT A PLUG ADAPTER!

Seriously, get a plug adapter. They're way better than switchboxes.

I'll take a look at The Source next time I'm at the mall.

I'll also try the SMS one later, when I'm not so... Bah, I've got better things to do first.

Thanks SF :)
I should pop back to DCEMU later also.

disconnect your cable and only have the nes rf hooked to your tv.

It's a game-only TV. No cable hooked up, but only because it won't reach. =/

My Colecovision is sitting in my old closet at my parents' house. Wasn't that AC plug a monster, or am I thinking of something else? I'm not sure but I thought the Colecovision power plug was about the size of a shoe.

If you are thinking about buying a few, this place does great bulk sales, but still they are cheaper than ebay. There's an option about mid-way down the page to add a 6 foot shielded RCA cable for $3.50, so that's ~$5 + shipping.

I have my Colecovision hooked up with a length of coax, and an rca male to coax female plug. A plug similar to this one (http://www.l-com.com/item.aspx?id=5374), except I bought it at Ace. It cost $2.
