I know that older light guns will not work on LCD, Plasma, DLP or other projector methods. Will they work on an HD CRT set?
I've been told no for Europe, as their HD CRTs use 100Hz to reduce flicker. I haven't seen anything that suggests NTSC uses anything above 60Hz for any resolution. So I'm really hoping that it is a possibility to use them playing 480i60 on an HD CRT.

I believe there was another recent thread about this exact topic and the answer is no - because I have tested it out myself on my NTSC Sony Hi-Scan HD compatible TV.

Thanks everybody. I tried using search and was finding a bunch of other information. I guess I was using the wrong keywords.
Will it be the same problem if using an EDTV CRT?

Yeah, you should only play it on an analog set, as far as I know. EDTV sets still have a progressive scan capability (and are digital sets), and I think this is one of the reasons there is an incompatibility.

Yes that is what I was afraid of that it is the way digital sets refresh the screen. That's a shame.

Sad to say, but new technology doesn't play well with the old sometimes.
