Seriously. For those of you who have the game on PS2, how would you rate the game personally? I know it looks awesome, but is it worth getting a mod job done to a PS2 for the sole purpose of buying this game? I'm not interested in what dudes working for a magazine have to say, I want to hear the pros and cons of this VS. Fighting game from other gamers. I'm a die hard HNK fan, but even I have to weigh out if I want to mod my PS2 (or wait a bit longer for that memory card thingy).

Any help on this is much appreciated.

Worth it in every sense I feel. I'm a huge HNK fan myself, owning the series on DVD and the entire manga run, and I feel this is an excellent addition to any HNK fan's collection. If you are a fan of 2d fighting this is one of the better recently released games. It's done by Arc System Works, makers of Guilty Gear, which makes for some solid gameplay and fantastic graphics.

I've played it at the arcade a bit, but it's not really my thing. I don't particularly like the Hokuto no Ken license so yeah, I am happy with SF3rd Strike. The graphics looks pretty nice although the animation isn't that fluid. It definitely seems like the type of game that a fan of Hokuto no Ken would dig.

I know you didn't want a magazine review but here is one more detailed review that talks about the gameplay system etc.
