I call it the Tub o' Grafx, which yields 231 results on Google and 3 here at DP. One of the DP hits actually was posted by me, which is funny because I didn't think that I actually called it the Tub o' Grafx, but apparently I do.

...word is bondage...

Actually, now that we're on the subject of the spelling of TURBOGRAFX, I'm wondering how ppl have been pronouncing the actual game system for all these years. It wasn't until about 5 months ago that I actually realized the "X" was a play on the suffix of "ic" of Graphics. Up until then I'd been saying Turbo Graff and figured the X was silent for some reason. I wonder if I was alone in that or what? But then I always preferred the original name PC Engine anyhow.

I have always pronounced it turbo graph-ex which sounds very similar to graph-ics, only difference being the pronunciation of the -e instead of the -i

I always said FX as either "F, X" or "ef-fects". Sometimes I'll do this and say "Turbo Graphfects".

I remember when I had a Turbografx, and had to buy games on Ebay. My search field looked like this:

(turbografx,turbographx,"turbo grafx","turbo graphics","turbo grafix") ad nauseum.

If you want to go crazy, think about how many different misspellings you've seen for the word "definitely".

I usually just say "turbo" for all of the PC Engine stuff. Or PCE.

Do you mean TTI (Turbo Technologies Inc.)? They tried for sure but it was an uphill battle. If anyone mishandled the system, it was NEC.

I use the terms TG16, Duo (sometimes Turbo Duo) or PCE, even in speaking. Same for other systems also. The only system I call by it's complete and proper name is the Wii. How the hell can you simplify that? LOL

Part of the reason I call it the PC Engine is that I can never seem to remember the exact way to write the US title. :P (The other main reason being that I only own a PC Engine Duo-RX, so I ignore the US side of things.)

This is one of those times where the fact that I spell the system name correctly, it may not help me much on Google. =)

Well it doesn't matter how we spell it. Here is what would have been embarrassing.

NEC Corporate Offices (circa 1990):

Supervisor: Got that ad sent off to Gamepro?

Ad Designer: Yup, did it two weeks ago. It goes out in the mail to subscribers tomorrow.

Supervisor: I know. Here it is.... *slams new issue of Gamepro onto ad designer's desk* Bozo! Now what do you think of that?!

Ad Designer: Shit, I can't believe I spelt it Turbographix again.........! @_@
