Saved this picture a year or so back, floating on the web. Been Ebaying for this item for awhile and have yet to have anything return in the "search" function. Anyone here know of any online retailers who sell this hand held Famicom system? I love the design, as it's waaaaay smaller than the huge Game Axe portable Famicom I bought from PlayTheGames.Com back when they were still "Advanced Imports" back in the early 2000s.

Any help on this is appreciated (if anyone knows). http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/536/bogartha0.gif

THANKS.

there is one on Yahoo Auctions Japan for about $50

I've never seen one myself, but I am not much into pirate systems. Looks pretty good if the quality is passable.

Hey thanks for the link. Just wish it wasn't on Yahoo!Japan is all. Well thanks for replying to the thread. My Game Axe works fine, it's just that it's bigger than a SEGA Nomad is all, that Pocket-Fami looks about nice, but come to think of it, I have no idea what it's track record is like since no one I know owns one. Probably doesn't work with Akumajo Densetsu FC either, which would be the norm for Famiclones.

Thanks again.

I live in Tokyo so Ill keep my eye out for one or any information about it. Like I said I don't normally pay the famiclone stuff much attention, but I know a lot of stores carry that type of thing.

On a side note, it is made by GameTech which is a company that makes a ton of Nintendo DS (probably other consoles) accessories. I see their accessories a lot so this might be more readily available than some others. I gotta admit it does look appealing to a Famicom collector like myself, but I just wonder how good the screen and controls are.

Well if you ever do find out what the screen resolution is like, and of course if the Pocket-Fami is worth the money, it be much appreciated. Should've figured this item would be up on Yahoo!Japan though, as like with all the Armored Trooper VOTOMS stuff I always want is never on Ebay but on Yahoo!Japan, and I'm not about to go paying Rinkya or one of those escrow services to procure it all. I was kind of hoping an online store would be carrying one of these, but other than the picture I provided, I know next to nothing about it's track record. It is interesting to learn it's being manufactured by a company that makes DS products though. The Game Axe I have is prone to having circuitry problems between the screen coming on 70% of the time, so it's probably going to die on me before long.

PEACE OUT.

It's absolutely not worth the money. Blurry screen, very unreliable connector. I can't stand playing on it other than the coolness of playing an actual Fami cart on the go.

I saw one in Sofmap last year in the $70 range. They sold for ~$80 when new a few years ago, IIRC.

thanks for the heads up smork, figured the quality might not be as nice as the design looks

Can you recommend a pocket famicom that doesn't suck? I've seen one called the Cool Boy or something that looks pretty good. Anybody have any experience with it?

Reccomend one? Hmm, let's see...My PSP with emulators does the job pretty darned well. Better than half the NOACs, anyway.
