Ps2 org model version 7, will not play dvd's. Will some times play games but will have load probs. I would like to fix this myself but need input on what part to replace by the guru's here.

Have you tried simply cleaning the lens yet? A little alcohol and a q-tip has fixed many of my DRE problems (just be careful not to rip the small ribbon cable when taking the cover off your PS2).

ya, I already cleaned the system out. it's a hardware issue but I would like to buy the specific part that's the prob, not drop a lot of $ for the whole drive system.
