Metroid Prime 3 has given me the urge to play the original Metroid. I've never beaten it, or really played far into it at all. I did beat and enjoy Metroid: Zero Mission, but never the original.

So, if I want to play the original Metroid, what is the best format to do so? Why?

NES all the way. Actually FDS would be even better. No passwords to deal with.

Second the NES, with an Advantage joystick for good measure!

NES without question.

Emulator with save states because rebuilding your energy after loading a password is a waste of time. Unless you can beat the game in a single sitting, don't bother with the NES.

Actually, I'm gonna have to go with the Famicom, on this one.

It used the better save system. I detested those passwords. But only if you're not wanting to use cheats - if that's not the case, I'd go with the NES.

Hmmm... good point. Problem is - I hate using roms, I never enjoy the games as much. But wouldn't the Wii VC version allow you to quit and save your exact progress? I know it does with other NES games.

Thanks for the continued input everyone :D

Either Famicom Disk System or Game Boy Advance (Classic NES Metroid or Metroid: Zero Mission), so you don't have to write down long passwords.
