If any of you have been thinking about buying a GP2X (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GP2X), but have been putting it off, then well, you might want to consider putting it off a little longer because Gamepark Holdings is going to release a new version called the GP2X-F200.

This version has the same hardware as the F100, but it will have a touch screen and the much-maligned joystick will be replaced with a PSP-style split D-pad. It will also have some more built-in games like the Value Pack came with (though they're freeware anyways), and the case is white instead of black.

well, this is cool. I was putting off getting one because of monetary issues, but this remodel seems cool.

The Gamepad thing threw me for a loop though. I knew the stick thing was probably gonna be the thing to be fixed, but that seems kinda uninviting. Hopefully it isn't as PAINFULLY hard to use as a PSP/PS2 gamepad.

Yeah, I have a few reservations about the D-pad design too. I have no intention of buying one until I see at least a few reviews of it. I personally don't mind the stick on the old GP2X, so it's not even that big a concern for me.

They've made an already sexy machine ever better. Me want.

I love my GP2X and this redesign looks pretty nifty. I don't really care about the touchscreen functionality given that none of the games I'd play on it would make use of it. I can navigate through the menus just fine with my F-100.

If the d-pad is good I'd definitely prefer it over the thumbstick, but I don't mind the thumbstick too much regardless. It's a great handheld as is though; I highly recommend it.

There are many replacement sticks for the joystick. I can't remember where I got mine, but it is infinately better than the one that came stock on the GP2X. I am not sure I like the idea of a D-pad on it, though.
