While at work at GameStop the other day, some kid came in with his copy of BioShock he had bought a few days before. He showed it to us, and it was a blank disk. Both sides of the disk were the plain silver that the readable side has, yet he assured it it was BioShock. Is this kind of misprinting on a disk, or in this case, not printing a disk, an addition to collector's value? I know with coins misprints from the mint add a lot of value but I'm not sure if it goes for games too. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you test it out when he brought it in?

The last Indiana Jones game that came out for Xbox had a whole batch of disks with no label at all. I was working at EB at the time and we weren't sure what to do with them. The DM said to sell them. So we did.
Not quite sure about them generating interest with collectors though.

There was a dead to rights in an EB i use to work at that if you shook it you could could hear it rattling around because it came off its clips. However it was still sealed.
I opened it one day because it was getting on my nerves as i didn't want to sell it like that.
Inside was something like Bob Dylan's s x-mas carols...looks like someone did an old switcheroo before it got to us at the store.
Could be the same case...
Though we also had a game returned that only played a movie...had the game label and everything though.

I assume the copy of Dead to Rights was missing the security sticker?

As in the sticker on the top?
If i remember correctly it was there...
It was either done before it was sealed...or it was slit at the bottom and taken out before it was sent to us via UPS.
A slit at the bottom would of been something I wouldn't of noticed...

So this was the XBox or the PS2 version of Dead To Rights?
If it was the XBox version, those DVD cases are difficult to open from the bottom or the top because the security sticker is on the long side of the case, usually covering about 75% of the side of it.
The PS2 security stickers on the other hand, are usually on the top of the DVD case, which can easily be opened from the bottom, allowing the disc inside to be removed without disturbing the sticker on top. Getting the disc back inside and mounted onto the center disc clip mechanism is another story, but it's still possible.
Also, was the plastic wrapping the kind that everyone has? (From EB games, Gamestop and Best Buy, etc.) Or was it actually 'factory sealed' with the wrap that had the folds in it on the top and bottom?

Deffenitly PS2.
Factory Sealed...not a re-seal.
The Christmas Carols cd never made its way back onto the clips, thats for sure.

The copy of Bioshock was actually a copy of Bioshock, not a burn. He wasn't returning it or trading it. He actually seemed quite happy to have such an unusual (but still playable) disc. It was most definitely an official Xbox 360 disc, and I remember selling the copy of Bioshock to him so I know it came from our store, not a bootlegger.

When I was working at EB, on a Madden release day somebody opened up their copy right away and it was a completely blank piece of plastic. No label, no reflective surface, nothing- it was just a clear piece of circular plastic that had the proper markings around the inner circle. Bizarre.

The same thing happened to me when I bought Azure Dreams (PS1) many years ago. When I first opened the game up I thought they had put the game disc upside down. Then I realised the surface of PS1 games dics should be black and not silver. I took the game out and sure enough the other side was black. Anyways the game worked perfectly and I still have it to this day.
