So I picked up a SF 2 jamma cab the other day and when I picked it up, it worked fine. After moving it to my house though it won't power up. I wasn't rough with it at all nor was the ride home a bumpy one. I am a newb at this stuff but here is what I did so far. First I checked all the harness conections to see if they were loose and they were fine. Next I tested all the fuses in the system with a meter and they all tested fine. What should be my next step?? Also if anyone around here is local to me and wants to help out, it would be much apretiated. Oh, BTW, this was put in a older Midway cabinet, possibly Defender, the monitor and power supply are originally from that cabinet, when I checked the monitor when I picked it up, it looked extremely good for its age.
Are you sure the power supply is the original one? If so, you really should replace that with a switching power supply. The original Williams PS's are horribly flaky and could break by just looking at them (you probably wore it out when you looked at it when you picked it up ;) ). But yeah... I'd try coining the game up and listen if it plays with no picture, or if it doesn't play at all. If you can hear it play, you probably have a monitor problem, if you can't hear it play, then it's probably a PCB or power supply problem. I'd check all the voltages at the board with the multimeter (JAMMA pinout is here: http://www.coin.demon.co.uk/jamma.htm ).

thanks for the info. like I said I am a noob though. The mulitmeter I have I really don't know how to use. My father i law gave me his extra one. I just know how to check fuses by putting it on its lowest setting and putting the prods on each end hehe. I really want to test the power supply but I don't know how to do so. Can anyone recommend a tutorial or anything on how to test this stuff? How do I know what is what etc...
