I've heard a lot about old EGM magazines having ad's for obscure consoles, vaporware, imports, backup devices, etc...

would anyone be able to deliver some scans of said advertisments?

Ah, those were the days...

I remember browsing through my old EGMs a while back and read about the time the N64 was known as the Ultra 64... that was a fun bit. :)

I wish I still had those around :(

That would be awesome if we could get some scans. I remember my friend had an issue of EGM that had a small ad for a Sega Saturn called the "V Saturn". We didnt know what it was. We talked about how it would be cool if it was a new and improved Saturn, similar tho what Panasonic did with the
3DO FZ-1 and FZ-10. A few days later my friend told me that he found out that the V Saturn had 128 Super FX chips in it (BS if ive ever heard it! lol). I didnt really believe him but it sure sounded cool. Years later I discovered that the V Saturn was just a model of the Saturn manufactured by JVC, Similar to the X'eye/Wondermega.

I don't know if it was EGM or not but I remember when Sonic was first previewed they called it "The Sonic Hedgehog". Would be interesting to find that issue.

There are places here and there online where you can fine gamer magazine scans from time to time - I have one or two issues EGM I think... Racketboy posts full scan downloads of various mags infrequently here: http://www.racketboy.com/index.php?cat=46, also you can check out Retromags for other stuff but they distribute on torrents from what I understand: http://www.retromags.com/forums/index.php?act=unreal

I like to think I have every EGM although there may be some early issues of EGP I might be missing. That being said, I've always made it a long term goal of mine to scan em all in.. except I've been saying that for like 10 years now. It's a slow process with my gear and I probably manage to squeeze in a page or two every year or so. Not to mention all my issues are beat to shit (I never really did take great care of magazines) LOL

I do get some in though.. like here's an old-ass Quarterman

If you can, try to get scans of old Tips and Tricks magazines. Not only did they have tons of advertisments for import games, they also had reviews for some interesting peripherals, like import converters and things that let you play Gameboy games on Playstation, and NES and SNES games on an N64. Those were some great times.

Wow thanks for that. That's one of those things I read about back in the day, wondered about it briefly and of course would never find out. So essentially you pretty much solved near 20 year mystery LOL And yeah I just looked up that game, and you're probably 100% right.. that is the game! Although it was never that all that big a deal of course, it's still cool to find out :)

The game is also known all over as Mario Baby for some reason. :)
