The game will release in November with a full color manual with more original artwork by AtariBoy.
I was originally going to do a Limited Release of 20 Cartridges but the game has come together so well that I thought I would check to see if the interest for the game would require a larger run of cartridges. The game will be priced under $30 as are most of my previous releases. If anyone would be interested in making some boxes for the game, Please PM me.

I'm always pumped up about new 2600 releases, though I do wish the 7800 homebrew scene would get more love. Count one as SOLD right here, as it be a fine edition next to a few hacks and homebrews I've purchased over the years. I'll be looking for it's release in November, through Atari Age I'm assuming?

Looks great, but what's the point of busting your ass on a game if you are only going to make a small batch? I want one, but I definitely don't want one enough to fight others for it, so I'd really rather wait until there's a larger production run.
So what games does this play like? Is there a big map like adventure? Is it a game that is beatable, or is it more of a score-based game?

I would call Melbourne Tatty an Action Puzzle game. There are 20 different levels. Here is some gameplay info:
Navigating the Maze
Use the left joystick to move around the screen. The walls randomly shift and move . Walls may block you, but they won't block the wolf! Try to gather the golden treasures as they appear on the screen. You get ten points for every treasure you collect. If you can recover ten treasures, you'll move on to the next level.
Press the fire button to put down a golden decoy. The wolf will leave you alone and pursue the decoy until he grabs it. Use this time to put some distance between you! You get three decoys at the start of every level. Every time you place a decoy, your decoy meter on the bottom left side of the screen will decrease. You get fifty bonus points for every unused decoy at the end of the level.
Hazards
The wolf pursues you relentlessly across the screen. He'll move one room at a time through the maze, pausing briefly in every room he reaches. You'll hear a warning tone shortly before he moves. If he catches you, you'll lose one life. You get three lives before the game is over.

A few more cool additions. Each copy of the game will come with a flyer with the previously posted Melbourne Tatty Comic Ad. The game package will also include Character Cutouts.

And the manual will have some behind the scenes information on the design and programming of Melbourne Tatty.
Here is some early concept art for the game.

I am going to try to have 15 Boxed Copies of the game and 20 copies without the box. I am still not ready to have any type of reserve list but I will take into consideration anyone that has already posted interest in getting a copy. The release target is late November.

Under $30? I'd love one.
Wouldn't mind paying more to have it boxed and everything.

I do this strictly as a hobby and not for profit. By keeping the cartridge production low I am able to handle it without too much trouble. When the number of copies gets around 50 it stops being fun and becomes a chore. When a game has a big demand I can pass it off to someone who can handle it like AtariAge. They have been selling Wolfenstein:The Next Mission and I could never have been able to meet the demand for that one.
The biggest problem is money. Each cartridge cost $15-$20 each to make and that is not including any other extras (manual, box, etc.). That money must be paid in full sometimes months before I can actually sell the game and recover that cost.
I don't keep them limited to run up demand or price. If AtariAge or Digital Press wanted to take over publishing..........

The cost of making the boxes is $10 each and that will be added to the price of the game. There will be 15 copies that come with the box and it will probably have something extra that the normal copies will not have.

The heavy sixer awaits the release. :) Honestly this is the game I'm looking forward to most right now, strange as that might be.

Hey, I see this at AtariAge... Does this mean there's no "special" release, or is it still coming up?

Huh? The boxed version was limited to 30 and is long gone. The normal unboxed version is available from AtariAge and it includes all the extras from the boxed release.

Ugh... I never saw any mention of the boxed version being AVAILABLE...
So, anyone going to pay me enough to quit my job so I can just keep up with things?
Thanks for the update though.

Never made it here...all copies of the limited boxed version were sold out at AtariAge within an hour or two of release. Less than half of the 50 or so people at AtariAge alone who wanted boxed copies actually got one, so you're not the only one who ended up disappointed...believe me.
The (unlimited) unboxed version is available and is identical to the limited version (sans box).

Hmmm, for some reason I thought it came with a box no matter what. I'm gonna skip on this one then, if there's no box.
