If you were at CGE last year, you were treated to a live performance of The Minibosses, who jammed for a good 40 minutes on Saturday. I loved their gig, and it was apparent that those who stopped to check it out did too. From last year's pictures you can even see our own Larry "retrogmr" Anderson dancing around in a Pac-Man costume!
There was one problem though.
They're LOUD. While this is normally a good thing, the vendors near the stage area and for the most part half of the floor behind them had some difficulty conducting business. Now personally, I'd stop conducting business, and it's going to be my job to convince the other organizers that we should basically have a "lunch hour" if we attempt to do this kind of thing again this year.
I don't expect hordes of people to answer this question, but I would like an honest answer, particularly if you were there last year.

Sweet Jumpin' Christ, you even have to ASK?!? The Minibosses rocked. HARD. And NES videogame coversongs nonetheless. What about the other musical entertainment that will be/did perform? What about the seminars that "disrupted business" for the vendors? What about all the other distractions like the Dragon's Lair 3D preview or the Dig Dug Drop? DId the vendors complain about that?
I say, let 'em tough it out for 1 or two hours over a 72 hour stretch. Christ, did a small concert damage their sales THAT badly? Jesus, I can't believe this is even an issue. The Minibosses were a highlight for CGE 2K2 and I expect Seth and the 8 Bit Weapon to rock even harder.

My "business" was dead when they were playing. But I didn't really give a shit about making money, so it was more a loneliness thing. I just wanted someone to come play Nintendo with me...

Maybe the vendors should try having better prices instead of complaining about the attractions that bring customers to the event :)
I havnt decided yet if im going, probably will, more likely to go if they are playing.

Suggestion: Why not hold the concerts in the seminar/auction room? God knows the seminars haren't held during the concerts anyway. And this may be best for the vendors. Just a suggestion/thought.

I can think of a few reasons, the highest on the list is that there are keynote speeches running all day, both days. It was hard enough getting a tiny block of time squeezed into the schedule last year. Consider also that these guys probably don't want to lug their stuff back and forth.
As it turns out, Seth has organized a mini-palooza of sorts and The Mini-Bosses don't really fit into this mix (this assembled group actually tours together in both the USA and Europe). We'll revisit them again next year as we try out this different approach (which includes some pretty funky visuals as well!).
