i dont know if any one else has been waiting an eternity but the gang at Epic just updated their Unreal Tournament III site.

i would say i cant wait as i really like all the UT games but thats all i have been doing for this game
on PC is the only way to play it though it is available to some sort of console

Has it been confirmed that there will or won't be cross PS3/PC multiplayer? It's already been confirmed that the PS3 can use the PC's mods and maps and stuff. Because if I can play against PC gamers, I'll never need another game as long as I live.

Another Unreal fan here. It's just an excellent series and there really isn't a comparison to be made between the PC and console ports that's good in my book (though this doesn't keep me from getting them :p). But yeah, UT3 has been in my purchase que for awhile now.

Usually i would agree with this, but UT3 for PS3 got support for both keyboard and mouse so it would be just like playing it on a PC :)

Yeah and when the PC users started modding the maps and getting grappling hooks while DC users couldn't it got very f'ed up. Actually you could always tell when you were playing a PC user cause you got pwned.

As far as Unreal III goes I kinda hope it's not cross platform, but I kinda hope it is, expect oddities and strange things if it is cross-platform. The user created content is what interests me most though, and going cross-platform should only increase that. User created con6tent on a console is definetely something I have wanted a long time.

God, anybody ever play that user created Evil Dead Cabin level on UT2k4? Insanely fucking awesome, I dunno i'm pumped for this game for the sheer fact that every one has been some of the best online shooting ever next to Half Life, Unreal Championship excluded, sorry but that game was just mediocre.

Epic Games' boss Mark Rein has stated that there is "no guarantee" Unreal Tournament 3 will make its November release on PC and PS3, casting doubts as to whether the title will remain a PlayStation 3 console exclusive this year.

At Sony's E3 conference in June, Sony made a big deal of Unreal Tournament 3 being exclusive to the PlayStation 3 in 2007, with publisher Midway confirming a November release.

But any delays would see the shooter slip dangerously close to its release on Xbox 360 in early 2008.

"We do not know exactly when the game will be completed," wrote Rein on Epic's official forums.

"All we've said is that we're hoping for a November release, but as you know we value getting it right over getting it right now, so there's no guarantee of that," he said.

Arguably, UT and Quake are the two most important multiplayer shooters in gaming history thus far... And much as I love Id, I have to say, Unreal is where the real men are.

The Xbox versions of UT 2004 were actually decent; I didn't even know there WAS a PS2 version...

...But the moral here is that UT 3 on any platform is a huge deal. Myself, I'll be picking it up for PS3; keyboard and mouse support for PS3 seals the deal.

My dear friend and surviving Xbot, I spoke to mark reign last year at X06 here in Toronto, Canada, he mentioned that Gears of War or any multiplayer game Epics puts out will run on Epic's personal dedicated servers so you know what that mean ?

That means that Unreal Tournament III on PC, PS3 and 360 will be running on company's servers and only Xbox suckers will be paying for Online Play. And as far as MS offering nifty download... ya they will but they will charge you, do you even know why Unreal Tournament is coming to PS3 first ? because of the argument between MS and Epic from earlier this year. Epic is a great company and with the success of Gears of War they wanted to put up maps for free but MS being the dicks they are did NOT ALLOW THE HOLY paying XBOX LIVE users to get it free and later agreed that they will make them FREE 3 MONTHS LATER.
So I dunno I have an xbox360 PS3 and a Wii and I am not going to bother to pay for LIVE and as I mentioned that my PC is out dated so that puts me in good position to get the PS3 version with keyboard and mouse support(I am pretty sure 360 will have that too considering MS don't want to stay back and copy everything SONY is doing RIGHT (Hello newly standardized HDMI port on all 360 models).

Doesn't sound like fanboyism to me. Just looks like he's familiar with his options and he picked one. To be honest, if I got a hold of a PS3, I'd show twice his enthusiasm while discussing an exclusive. Even if it's "exclusive" for only a short period of time. Any gaming related reason to justify such a high price for the hardware would send me through the roof. Justification is relative though. Maybe he's already happy with his purchase. Shame on him.

It runs pretty well on my machine on the medium/low settings and still looks decent.

the UI can go die in a fire though. Holy crap is it bad. The server list can go with it.

the ui can be changed in instant action, its part of the difficulty setting, alot of the menus are going to go i belive because you cant change jack shit in terms of video features, the sliders are ok but if it one thing thats causing hardware lag you usually can single it out in UT games.

Thinking of downloading the demo tonight and playing if possible. The limited edition tin boxes have nearly disappeared locally and was something I wanted to shell out the money for if the game shines bright like many other UT titles. Any feedback from others who have played the full version?

It's pretty unimpressive. The graphics are way too busy and the game just feels like a trimmed down UT2k4 with a couple of new features.

On a good PC it is fantastic. 2K4 is a relic compared to this. UT3 is everything 2K4 wished it could be. it is a vastly superior game, particularly because it maintains everything from 2K4 -- no trimming just enhancing. It's gorgeous to look at and can hold 60fps easier than you might expect.

This is the fps everyone should be playing online...

Got this for the PS3 today from a forum member. Boy, I really do suck at fps's. As always, I get killed in a second or two after entering an online battle. Maybe one day I'll get better, when I have more time to invest. And I should probably set up a keyboard/mouse combo too. Otherwise, the game is beautiful and runs smooth as silk.

i love that last line, "the fps every one should be playing online" but they arent theyre playing something else because of shitty game spy arcade.

you must be concentrating on the graphics part of things because theres no double jump, you move slower than origonal ut and yea sure things look pretty but big woop. i saved my self $60, i'm probally going to frontlines instead of this as my main game.

i love the beta of frontlines so far, decent ammount of people online for a closed beta. more than i ever saw before UT came out.

i am sure there'll be a ut2003/2004 for ut3 before too long, and M$ just put a bid in for epic mainly for the UT3 engine which is a great engine but now they'll crank more games out and probally be staffed up some aswell

I'm playing this on PS3 and OMFG!

Using jetpacks on the user created map "Flatwars" with slow kill, low grav, and 3rd person perspective is just the best experience ever, pure poetry in motion!

The headshots with sniper, the gib kills with the melee weapon, the way the bodies fly around then explode when hit with shock rifle anti-grav! This game is just satisfying on SO many levels!

The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is flawless and this is some of the best gaming i've had on a console since the dreamcast days. There is no comparison, this is the best shooter experience out there atm and I see me playing this for years to come.
