From what I have seen all of the California Games have the same games on them but I can't say that I have played them all.

Well, I've only played the NES & the Lynx version. I know the Rollerskating/Flying Disc on the NES version is not on the Lynx port. Many of the games are quite different as well. But I guess they all have skateboarding which is what matters here.

Listing the release year of each game would be nice too (just a suggestion)

Cheap Skate - C64 (1989) Silverbird
Professional Skateboard Simulator - C64 (1988) Codemasters
Skateboard Joust - C64 (1988) Silverbird

Couple others in my C-64 collection I imagine. I really do need to finally sort it all.

Now that we got a somewhat complete list what games would you guys reccommend?

720° arcade is the god.

All the Tony Hawk games are at least reasonably good if not repetitive, can't really go WRONG with any of them though.

I always like Skate or Die (only played the NES version) & T&C Surf 1. I don't care for any of the ports of 720° much although GBC & the PS2 (Arcade Partypack) are not bad, they just don't have the arcade control which made the game killer.

I've heard good things about Thrasher Skate & Destroy, how is it?

As for the Sega AM2 arcade games, I've only played Top Skater, and never even realized they had 2 sequels until I researched for this list. How are they? The first one was pretty cool even if gimmicky.

Not sure if this would qualify but Greendog the Beached Sufer Dude (Genesis) had its share of skateboarding segments.

skate.

When it comes out this Tuesday, declare the rest of the list null and void. I downloaded the demo earlier this week and have played it for the entire time limit (30 minutes) at least once a day. I've been playing Tony Hawk since I paid $50 for the original on PS1, and skate. makes it look ridiculous by comparison.

yeah skate. looks pretty badass

That, Halo 3, & Dead Rising are the games I really want an Xbox 360 for.

Anyway, you can't replace a 720° arcade cabinet, no matter how detailed the graphics are or how complex the gameplay mechanics are...

One day I *WILL* own a mint conditon 720° cab, one day...

Thanks for the contribution, but I am only going for games where teh centralized theme is skateboarding. There are tons of games that feature a skateboard at some point, but I wouldn't call them "skateboarding videogames". California Games & T&C Surf kind of push this boundry, but I think they still apply.

Yes, Street Surfer it is. The best thing was the music getting faster as you were accelerating :)
