So they sell their 360 and get a new one and are back online an hour later. Meanwhile their "banned" 360 awaits an unsuspecting sucker. One more reason for people NEVER to buy a used 360.

The ability to get Epsilon is only doable by either having it given to you by Bungie or MS. There has been no other legitimate way for any of us 'normal' gamers to get in on Epsilon (what we played earlier this year was Delta), so if you saw a Gamertag that wasn't a known Bungie/MS or a known gaming journalists GamerTag then they'd gone and stolen that access.

Those that were getting banned were taking part in the fact that one persons XBL account had gotten stolen and they were then doing the restore function on the box and 'hacking' into that users account to download Epsilon. That is so beyond whats accepted by the XBL TOS that its no wonder they were banned. From what i've read about this on a few other sites it sounds like about 100 systems were given the boot for good.

Yes the CoD4 beta bannings happened at roughly the same time (except were only one day temp bans) but those were meant (I feel) as hand smacks telling these people who were loading their account on a friends machine, not taking one persons account and doing it over and over again.

I applaud these exploiters for finding a way to play a Halo 3 build early. I also find Microsoft's efforts amusing - someone with these capabilities can easily evade an Xbox Live ban.

I also don't see why this is news. NEWSFLASH: People do things they're not supposed to. Attempts are made to punish them. News at 11.

My understanding is that no one was actually banned (even temporarily) for the CoD4 thing. I raised a fucking fit when i heard that, was told it was a misunderstanding and that no one was banned. If someone has proof that this isn't the case, please let me know. I'd have to go bitch someone out.

For epsilon, people weren't banned for getting into the beta without an invite, they were banned for "stealing" someone else's account info and recovering it to their box. It's not as if they had some friend who was invited come over to their house and recover their account, they someone broke into another person's account and posted the info online.

The "second controller glitch" is known to microsoft, and semi-sanctioned. It's a byproduct of the method Microsoft uses to sign XBL content. In order to actually fix the issue, they would have to change how XBL content is signed. They're not willing to do that.

People have been using this glitch since day one to get free content from XBL. It just happens to work particularly well with content that's actually free.

The "official" method of distributing free content that's supposed to be secure is to setup a 360 with the content on it, then have the people who are authorized recover to that box. This sets up their account with the download token, but makes sure they only have half the signature and can't run the files unless they're connected to XBL. This is how they're able to give out the special gamer pics like the one for Zero Hour and Launch Team.

I hope some of that makes sense...

I applaud these exploiters...
I also don't see why this is news.

Let's see what comes up within your last 20 posts.

- There is not a single game on the PSP that I have found worth playing

- I am really annoyed by the Wii gamers.

- I applaud these exploiters

- Sports games are fail

- all mediocre titles, nothing even manages to hit an 8.0

- I think I'm going to opt out of shitty countries like Germany and the U.K

- Disney games do suck these days.

- I would recommend a modchip + spindle of CD-Rs.

- Razrs fucking suck. That's all I have to say on that matter.

- GameCube games for a six year old girl? Hmm, how about the whole library.

- How about these people recommending shitty games just because they have the word "Disney" in them stop doing that?

- Guess the Nazis never lost power in Germany then, eh?

- they're Dreamcast fanboys who can't handle the fact...

- That name is redundant, all sports games are shitty.

- I remember the glory days of Ogrish.com before it turned into that LiveLeak bullshit

- I have a sense of humor. Unfortunately, it is too advanced to find your post funny.

- I would have found it more entertaining if you would have just told us about your story of finding this at Target..

- Guitar Hero 3? Really? Are people really blowing their load over a game that is coming out for all three next gen platforms, and is nothing more but Guitar Hero I or II with different songs?

- There's nothing but more boring generic shit coming out now, as if the PS2 didn't already have enough of that.

- I would love for more backlash to happen. The sooner the better. People need to get over it.

- So you're saying Sony's goal this generation is to sell as few PS3s as possible?

- How is that threadshitting?

You're one negative little dude. That must suck.

heh - This reminds me of when I was running Deviance(Pirate/"Warez" group) and we received an early copy of the very first "Tribes" game for the PC. This was roughly a couple weeks prior to it's official street date. As we got it ready for release, a couple of us logged on to test it out, and as we were playing on the games official servers, we ran into the devs and company people who literally flipped out on us. :)

Luckily they didn't have the capability to perma-ban a PC, although they did perma-ban one of our crackers handles..

what's funny is anyone acting surprised that some people would go that far to play some Halo 3 before anyone else... OMG, we can't believe they did that!
