Did a little research on these Asian Version games, but still wasn't able to determine much about the game. What is the deal on these cartridges. Does anyone know?

Check this out... http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/nes/asianversion.html

Wow I never heard of these before. Good find :D

They really do look like pirates though.

Don't know anything about those, but pirate or not, that'd be an interesting addition to my video game pinball collection.

Interesting. Cartridge casing looks similar to Supervision carts, I wonder if those use real Nintendo chips as well.

My bootleg 650 in 1 cart says it's for the Asian Version of the NES. It won't work on an unmodded NES system.

Methinks this is legit, people have posted Asian Version copies of early NES games before.

Agreed, I've seen these around before, and if memory serves me right, there's an NES collecting site that has a listing of most of these "Asian Versions".

quite a few of the black box games were released as well as some oddball ones like metroid (with differnt label art, I was lucky to grab a copy of that off ebay for 1.99) the game is identical to the us release (I dumped my copy just to check)

Do they have that uh... chip in the cart? The region protection thing?

Game Boy carts of a similar nature have been spotted in K-Marts here in the US, but these Asian Versions are a different story altogether.haha

I remember seeing one of those

If anyone is interested in it, throw me some offers. I can post a pic of it.

Apparently...I have the Asian Version of Kid Icarus and I've never been able to get it to work.

I'm pretty sure that Asian Version games (ASI) are in PAL format (they play without probs on an unmodified PAL system if I'm not mistaken). For those curious, there's also Hong Kong Version games (HKG) and Korean Version games (KOR). They pretty much have the same artwork and small box as the European Version games.

Well it plays perfectly fine on my system.

I have the same cart. It is fully legit, released for the Asian NES market.

"Asian Version" games were officially released for the southeast asian market (Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia). These versions are probably one of the hardest to find anywhere, and as mentioned earlier by Speedy_NES, are in PAL format. I've personally got the asian versions of "Clu Clu Land" and "Zelda 2" complete back home and have been searching for more asian games for the past few years with not much luck.
I've also still got my "Asian Version" NES somewhere lying about. IIRC, the strip along the top of the US and Euro versions are black whereas in the Asian Version its actually grey.

Those are pretty hard to find but legit. I have the Super Mario Bros Asian version. Cool find.
