Ratchet And Clank series?

I want the one with the best single player. I also want the one with the best platforming elements to go along with varied enviroments ie water grass etc.

I own all three, and think they're all phenomenal. I've referred to them as the modern-day successor to Mega Man, and personally think both Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal (2 & 3) are equally kick-ass.

In my opinion, you should just play 'em all in order, they're cheap and it's worth it.

All three are action platformers, hence my comparison to Mega Man

Going Commando and UyA are must have's in my opinion. They can be found fairly inexpensive used nowadays. No reason not to pick'em up and try'em out. Fantastic games!

The second (Going Commando) has the best balance of action and platforming. The first suffers from the lack of a strafe button, which hampers the action in an otherwise pretty fucking excellent game.

Up Your Arsenal has some good platforming, but fucking awesome action. Did you like MDK? Because Up Your Arsenal may as well be called MDK3. It's fucking awesome.

So yea, echoing a firm recommendation for both 2 and 3, though the first is worth playing for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the extremely funny dialog. Good god is the series hilarious.

Deadlocked, on the other hand...eh... you can skip out on it and never really feel like you missed out on anything. It's not that it's bad, it's just a disappointment after Up Your Arsenal. Low point of the series, unfortunately.
