Just wondering...

How exactly does one go about possibly confirming something?

You can't, anymore than you can coldly heat something. But "possibly confirmed" sounds more like must-hear news than "a bit more fuel for FF7 remake speculation."

I still don't believe it. The whole "To Be Continued" is obviously because the story continues in FFVII. That doesn't mean they're remaking the damn game.

Personally, I don't want anymore ports/remakes (As big of an FFIV fanatic as I am, even the FFIV remake on DS is pushing it). Besides, I will officially despise Square forever if they do remake FFVII. I'm just starting to respect Square again for actually doing something non-Final Fantasy for once (Last Remnant, and Infinite Undiscovery), and I'm really getting sick of all these Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest (Though I love Dragon Quest to death, almost as much as Phantasy Star) games. Even Sakaguchi said so himself, he really hates that's all Square and Enix do are Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games. Nothing new. Then again, that just could be a bit of PR.

A bit off-topc rant:

Dammit Square, why do you have to taunt me like this? I've been waiting seven years for Parasite Eve III, but then you decide to release it on a fucking CELL PHONE?! Yeah, I knew this way back in April, but I just wanted to say this now.

What the hell has Enix done lately? The last Enix game I know of was Dragon Quest VIII, but Level 5 developed it.

Yes, I know Square and Enix are one company now, but I always have, and always will view them as separate entities.

Honestly though, unless they are releasing FF7 on the PSN or something, the To Be Continued things is a bit eh. Hard to find a copy of FF7 nowadays in a store, so I dont think they would just be feeding to the people who already played it.

There was a rumor in EGM I think saying PE for the Phone isnt the only PE game in the works.

Its all one company o_O Its not like they would say it was made by Enix. Its SE, or another company, not Square, or Enix. And I realize what you said, but thats just being...cant find the word im thinking of, too late heh. Self-centered? Not sure

Huh? Viewing Square and Enix as separate is self-centered? How does that work?

I couldn't agree more Sothy. Seriously, I know that a lot of us here have nostalgia for a variety of games, but those that preach FF7 are really obnoxious. Why does this (or any other for that matter) FF need to be remade. I can understand releasing the portable versions but that is all. Just to be clear I am not against the FF series I have played numerous ones and enjoy them, but is Sephiroth really that cool still?

Call me crazy, but FF VII was, in MY OPINION, the most over rated game of all time.

Am I the only one who feels that way?

I could care less about a remake! However, if you like the game, I am happy for you...sort of

if that's even possible...

oh well, I am trying my hardest here....

How about Chrono Cross? *Ducks*

But yeah. I liked 7 but it definitely gets its notoriety because it was the first teet RPG newborns ever suckled.

I don't think this is a teaser for a remake. I agree that it's simply situating the game in the series timeline. Besides SqaureEnix stated just recently that there wasn't anything on the table. And yes, companies lie but I'll believe an official statement more than I will believe over analysis of an ending cinema. :P

Note the fact that my ID is neogamer, not "rpggamer" or any variation there of...

some my opinion on the matter is probably pointless!

I would buy it though, like I do every other RPG that comes out! Just to play it once and then put it in storage never to be played again!

well I would be pretty excited if it happened (though I doubt it will). I agree that remakes as a rule are pretty dumb, but I would love to enjoy the ff7 story with an attractive backdrop for once. I think a lot of ps1 games suffer from aging, and ff7 is no exception. I tried to replay metal gear solid the other day, but didn't get more than an hour into it before I shut it off. It was just too ugly, and it kept taking me out of the story. snes games are still very attractive in their own way, so remakes of those are pointless, but ps1 games could definitely be done better. just my thoughts.

The average comment in this thread...

B-b-b-but it drains Square/Enix's resources from other games.

Boo Hoo. If you don't want a FF7 remake, don't buy it. How many times do we have to discuss this topic on DP? Jeez.

Besides the KH series and DQ 8 the last great SE games were VP Threads of fate and FF3/6

Let's not forget Final Fantasy XII. Best gameplay of the entire FF series (maybe 2nd place to FFVII's turn-based perfection). Anyone who says otherwise is either a joyless cynic or didn't play the game all the way through.

Better than all the interminable spin-offs.

(And for the record, I love FF7 and would love a remake- doesn't make my point any less true though).

Traditionally, Dragon Quest is about all Enix ever developed. Even before the merger, most Enix games were made by second or third parties.

Oh, and what the heck does Infinite Undiscovery have to do with Square? o_O Not only does it have no connection to the Square side of the merger (it's being developed by third party tri-Ace, which had its games published by Enix before the merger), but that particular game is being funded and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Square Enix probably WISHES it was their game to publish.

Well, not to cause any trouble, but I personally would love to see a remake of FF7... I am replaying it right now and I must say. I love this game..
I might actually go buy a Next Gen system to play a remake of FF7.

If they go through with this, hopefully it'll be a lot better then Diddy Kong Racing DS (Such a bitchslap to a great N64 game...)

It really shows how far Rare has fallen when they screw up a port of their own game.

Anyways "possibly confirmed"? That is the most contradictory statement you can make. How about we continue to say "still rumoured".
