I have always wanted to beat these games, and now have the time to do it. Which one should I do first and why???
Thanks

I'd say Chrono Triggger. I didn't play them till several years after their release, and I found the CT story to be much more compelling.

Do yourself a favour and play them both :)
What you're pretty much asking is to choose a favourite child, it can't be done.

Heh, that's exactly what I was going to say.
Just flip a coin, and be sure to play the other when you're done.

Yup, my finger licking good friend just said it best.

I echo these comments.
Play one first then play the other :D
They are both fine titles and will offer a good time!

I will be playing the both, but I just wondered which one should I play first.

I'd play Secret of Mana first. I really like that game, but most people tend to think Chrono Trigger is cooler. So if you follow that trend, you won't have any disappointment with Mana.
Not that it's a disappointing game, it's just that the writing and dialog are a little more... "general audience", or not quite as sharp.
Does that make sense?

Secret of Mana, definitely. Without a doubt.

I would have to say Chrono Trigger, though make sure you play through both games.

Chrono Trigger is my third favorite game of all time (behind Super Metroid and Super Mario World). Guess what my answer is.
(No matter what you pick though, you're in for a treat.)

I'd say Secret of Mana. It's in my top 10 favorite games list.

Secret of Mana, so you can get all of Chrono Trigger's endings with out having to play another game.

Q4T. I've always wanted to play SoM with three players. Playing 2P with my cousin was a blast.
Seiken Densetsu III is also great if you have a good way to play the translated ROM. Modded Xboxes are good for that.

Mana if you can find friends...it's fun multiple player... I think Chronotrigger has a better story and is more unique.

SOM is more action oriented than CT. I guess it depends if you favor action oriented or a turn based battle system. I personally liked SOM more than CT, but I guess I just liked leveling up the weapons in SOM. :)

And leveling up the magic is great, if you max them out (lvl. 8 I believe) you are in for a sweet surprise. I'd recommend Mana first too, it doesn't have the most complex or fantastic story, but makes up for it in fantastic gameplay.

I remember buying Chrono Trigger because from the screenshots it looked like Secret of Mana. I was (temporarily) disappointed to find out that the gameplay was completely different.
I would only reccomend Secret of Mana if you have somebody to play it with. Otherwise you are missing out on a lot.
