Actually, the first original Xbox Halo edition system looks much cooler, I think.

Now all I need is Halo 3....

I still think that these are going to be over-produced. The original Halo Xbox is by no means rare, even though it had a supposed production run of 200,000 units.

Agreed. Could they have chosen an uglier color scheme? I suppose that's one of the advantages of marketing a "collector's" or "limited" edition anything:

No! I own both! The Mountain Dew Xbox is light green in color, where as the Halo Xbox is a much darker green!

I am so so torn on this one. I want it but am just overdone on limited collectors etc. I have a spare 360 that I got on the cheap I could trade maybe get 200 but still have to cough up an arm and a leg unless i trade both in.. I think the red ring killed the trade in prices and that also scare the hell out of me say I get it put it away then finally play it then boom the red ring. I just don't know.

I had no trouble buying mine at a game store (not a chain store, but a mom and pop store) that knows me very well. I had to drive about 100 miles, but heck, I was there on other business for my job as well!

I didn't have an Xbox until the special Halo edition came out. It was a great excuse to buy one. But it came with Halo. If the 360 edition came with Halo 3, I'd probably go for it.

I think its ugly. But those full color controllers they're doing are pretty cool looking. Sadly don't have any of this stuff for the store but I did get a standee in this week and the game is coming soon (I'm carrying the standard and LE editions but not the ultimate)

I bought the LE edition, can't wait!

anyway, i was told by everyone at a couple gamestops in queens, nyc that i have to preorder or else i wont get it. BS, i walked into bestbuy to find 6 in stock, picked one up and voila! i checked another gamestop here in brooklyn later today and they didnt have any preorders, nor did they sell any as far as i know. the guy said he wasnt allowed to say how many units they had in stock... just that it was "enough".

i hate preordering, its a complete BS scam. ill take my chances on release day for 95% of releases. unless its something OMGWTFBBQ like the wii was or halo3 legendary, ill find it elsewhere. and if not, then i have fun searching for it.

edit: btw, im by no means a halo freak. in fact i pretty much completely disliked halo 1 and 2. the graphics were gross and in my opinion the gameplay very subpar. (i was spoiled by pc FPS) but now that home consoles have pretty much caught up to PCs in terms of graphic quality, detail and sharpness, im willing to give it another try.

edit2: the exclusive content comes in the form of a card with 2 marketplace codes on it: one for themes and the other for gamer pics. it also says they arent linked to your account but instead just files and stay on the console and available to whoever uses the console. you can also copy them onto a mem card and move to other consoles. making the content not so exclusive.

Back in the day when Nintendo controlled 90% of the market with its NES system, you had to preorder. Rememeber trying to find Super Mario Bros. 3 on launch day? Today, you do not have to preorder! I never had a problem finding anything the day it comes out!

From a business perspective, companies love it when you preorder! They get interest on all that money that is just sitting there, and they have yet to sell you anything! (I hope everyone on these boards is smart enough to realize that).

Another interesting note is that I actually got a BRAND NEW SEALED one on eBay for less than $250.00 with about ten used games. The seller did not have good feedback or listed it wrong (I don't remember which) and I took a chance and it was in perfect new sealed condition! It is my display piece, so I was surprised!

the halo 360 is rather common right now id say. the gamestops ive been to, all in extremely populated shop streets in nyc have at least 4 in stock. ( checked 6 diff GSs out )

I just picked one up and I am seriously Hoping that this one doesnot crap out. I had 3 break on me. Honeslty I really like the Console, it looks sleek but my controler has smugges which is irritating.

Secondly My only worry is that if it breaks MS is going to send me a refurbished shitty white one.

Yes I am talking about the original, and no they don't have any let alone a normal new original XBOX. If your store has them, please PM me the store location and phone number and I can get one shipped here according to my local Game Crazy.

I haven't opened it up yet but I noticed on the side of the box it says "Component HD AV" when the big banner/sign on the front window of my Gamestop where I bought it says "HDMI port". Before I open this, can anyone confirm whether its HDMI or component or both?

I will see what I can do. I do not have any special ties to Game Crazy, except that I know the manager well and I spend alot in their stores at one shot (close to $1,000 a month sometimes).

If I find a store (I have three stores close by to me) that has one, I will let you know. I don't think your going to be able to have it shipped to your area though without you talking to your store manager.

They would definately charge you for the shipping though, mainly because these units always sell no matter what location they are at. I had this happen when I was buying the Tekken 5 joystick bundles for $29.99. After they special ordered 5 units for me for free, they had to start charging me a "special order" fee. When they saw how much I spent in their stores, the "special order" fee was reversed! That's why I never mock their customer service.

yeah, probably but this is just my guess. You know those DS packs out right now with brain age 2? Those are limited runs and Nintendo told me over the phone that they'll just repair it with the same shell. I would bet the Halo 3 360 will be the same way since it is also limited edition.

Yeah, pretty much. They would throw new guts in the old case. Doesn't mean i'd trust them with a true limited edition unit though. I'd never send my launch team box into them even though it's been known to red light.

There won't be a 120 with the gold. Thats all but certain. I've not seen any noises about dead units yet either, but these things are only 5 days old so it might take a little longer for noises to make their way out.

I think at some point mine was dropped (part of the box was caved in, and i didn't notice). Still purrs like a kitten though (that's a good thing)

I had been thinking about getting a 360 for a while, and I had not even heard of the Halo 3 360 and I was in the store the other day and saw it, decision made lol. Works great and looks awesome on my HDTV, a lot better than my Wii. I will admit this is my first time ever owning or playing a xbox for any length of time and I must say Microsoft has a good thing going. All my previous Halo experiences were always on PC. Been playing Oblivion day and night and I must say I could not be happier with my system, as I recall isn't there a 3 year warranty from Microsoft for the red ring of death that comes with the console?
Also can't wait for Halo 3, one more day! :)

I really wanted to get this model since I actually like the colors (not a big Halo fan or any other FPS for that matter) to be honest. But the 20gb HD and the lack of 65nm just kill the deal for me.

The way it's looking now is if Sony really does pop out a $400 40gb PS3 for the holiday season I'll probably be picking that up with a copy of GT Prologue when I'm in Japan for Christmas.

I have to say I really like the design of the console, it has a military feel to it. I totally HALO's single player campaigns with a passion, they just flat out suck however HALO 2 was the only multi-player games I played online last gen which rocked.

Secondly even if MS puts in 65 nm CPU they are still using the 90nm GPU and that does not mean that the flaws will automatically disappear. MS need to throughly reexamine the motherboard and these problems are going to just disappear right away. I am going to wait and see how it works out. I have already passed on the HALO 3 edition xbox as of yesterday.
