1ups james mielke has an excellent retrospective up for the series. I just recently bought and am playing PDS (plan to buy the other games soon) and just ordered a custom clock for PDS from snider. But am wondering what collectible items are there for the series (besides the xbox orta system) ??

Interesting. I loved PDS and that's saying a lot because I don't care for RPGs, and I didn't think the first two Panzer Dragoons were that great either. The article is sticking to the "only 20000" produced thing, which seems a little unlikely to some, considering its fairly wide availability (even here on DP it pops up regularly).
EGM printed an Edge mask on one of their back covers if you are looking for an interesting collectible (yep, this 20000 print game that supposedly barely made it out the door occupied the back cover of EGM...uh huh)

I know I've been trying to pin the production levels down but can't. I mean its not really hard to find online anyway I got like five offers here at DP in no time after asking for one. Ebay and amazon all have a few copies. Rare compared to most games though, finding it in a brick/mortar store would be a rare occasion
biggest thing is the price as opposed to rarity-yikes!
I'm like you though not a huge rpg fanatic I play a few now and then but this one got me, definetly the best in the series (orta being second)

I've never gotten the chance to play Saga or Orta (no Xbox) but I love the first two in the series. How is the music? Does the soundtrack really sound great, and if so is this the real deal:

Panzer Dragoon is one of my favorite all time video game series. I have yet to see another game craft a better post-apocalyptic world. I love how Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2 seem like "mostly" self contained stories. But then when you play Panzer Dragoon Saga you realize just how big and how deep the story is. Its amazing how Saga refrences the first 2 games and really works their plotline into pieces of its own. Saga also boosts one of the greatest stories ever written in my opinion. The relationship between Edge and Azel was conveyed so well, so honestly, and Craymans presence was always very powerful and overwhelming. But nothing could prepare me for the last hour of the game. Don't worry I wont spoil anything, just make sure to watch the cutscene after the credits. If you dont shed a tear at least once in the last hour of the game you have a heart of stone.

I thought the music fit the game well. I don't know if I'd call it great but it is distinctive and further immerses you in the world of PDS. I still remember the battle music to this day, and I haven't played it in at least 8 years.

It always sounds tempting but the $100+ tag is just too high and mighty for me. I did some searching last night and only came up with soundtracks from the first two games and Orta, so no samples at the moment for me. I still want to know if those CDs are legit or not, as it appears that auction has a printed scanned copy of the PDS inserts and two possibly burnt discs with lables inside a standard cheap dual-DVD case.
