So, 2 weeks ago I purchased Ninja Gaiden Black for the original xbox. I don't know how many of you have played it. The last real post I read about this was written in 2005, so I thought I'd bring it up in retrospect. If you have a PS3 and have Sigma, you can chime in too. Too hard... too easy? It is a hard game, and I just beat the 3 dragon bosses and octopus monster... On the normal mode (so I'm sure I have a way to go). Did anyone give up and say "Fuck It!?" Is it worth playing through? I have found it challenging, but not in a bad way. I haven't once thrown the controller at the TV, but rather just keep on playing... I hope I can keep it up and finish the game...

It's pretty hard, but so worth it.

Ninja Gaiden (Black) was, without a doubt, my favorite game of last generation.

The last boss will kick your ass and call it ice cream. But the sense of accomplishment, when you beat him, is almost orgasmic. I've said this once before - I compare it to getting 100,000 achievement points all at once.

If you're not playing it on hard, you're missing 1/2 the story.

I have only played the Xbox version of Ninja Gaiden(not black), I thought it was an awesome game. and one of the very few titles that made me swear and throw down my controller. I only played on normal mode, so I probably missed out. I would really like to get Sigma pretty soon, that game looks awesome! :)

Yeah, I'd like to be able to do it on hard, but I don't think I could handle it (I've never been that great at video games, though I love them)... It is a pretty tough game, but like you said, it is rewarding. It took me a few hours to beat that stage last night. It's saying a lot, that it has been the first game to pull me away from animal crossing for a significant period of time, since I got that game a few months ago. I hope I can stick it out, because I've heard quite a few stories where people have just given up never to return to the game.

Too hard! I own both and I actually now believe that I truly am horrible at playing video games.

Great games though!

I keep getting further (now I'm in the caverns below the monestary), so there is a chance that I will be able to beat the thing... Don't feel bad about being bad at video games... I never beat the original super mario brothers, and I've had that system pretty much since the 80's.

It really is hard as balls. Like everyone else, I threw controllers, swore, shut off the system, and came back an hour later. You just can't let those damn ninjas win. What gets you is it never really feels unfair, you know where you can improve and beat it. I feel bad that I never finished it and I will probably return to it and finish it before the next one comes out.

Yeah it never seems the game is taking advantage of you, just trying to challenge you... which is why I keep going back for more punishment. I feel like I can accomplish it, if I just play a tighter game.

I own the original on Xbox and Sigma for PS3, and I personally love them. They're one of the few games made with the 'hardcore arcade gamer' in mind.

It's all about the dodge roll and counters.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ninja Gaiden until it got way too hard, so I recently picked up Ninja Gaiden Black because I heard it was easier or offered options in terms of difficulty levels. Haven't had a chance to play it yet, though.

ya its hard and they redid it on PS3, Ninja Gaiden SIGMA... for me NInja Gaiden justified the price of xbox and I bought it again on PS3.

THey changed alot of enemies too in SIGMA. I think anyone old school gamer will love the game and secondly learn some moves otherwise youw ill be pissed.
