I'm cleaning systems for the NWCGE show and I pulled three untested 3D0 systems out of the garage (all tray-loaders) to prep for sale. Two out of three power on, but will not even spin up a disk. The other works fine.

Is anyone aware of a common and hopefully easy-to-fix problem with these machines? Cosmetically, they are beauties.

We stopped supporting 3DO's. The FZ-1's especially are brutally hard to change the lasers on, and the lasers are near impossible to source.

Cutting 3DO's from our service cost me 0.0001% of our yearly business.

Sorry, but FZ-1's are not fun to service.

Omnedon which of the 3DO models do you feel is the best one to have for longevity and servicing?

FZ-10 is easier to service than the FZ-1 by far. However, when the laser is dead in one of those, you are just as screwed. I've purchased new replacement laser for both units, and found tiny changes Panasonic made in the units rendering the replacement lasers impossible to use. An excerecise in lost time is wjhat that ended up being.

It's too bad but the demand is so infinitesimal, it was a no brainer.
