But 32-player online battles will make this shooter unique. Will internet connectivity become a key component for a great Wii FPS? The game ships November 13, marking an overdue (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/friendcode) trend (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/16/guitar-hero-3-to-feature-online-multiplayer/) of Wii (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/supermariostrikers) games (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/14/madden-08-wii-online-without-friend-codes/) finally getting online.

Judging from the trailer (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24951.html), Medal of Honor Heroes 2 looks good (albeit not HD-good). See for yourself after the break.Continue reading Today's seriously 32-player Wii FPS: Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/16/todays-seriously-32-player-wii-fps-medal-of-honor-heroes-2/)

I just watched the trailer. The game looks intense and the graphics look very good. The 32-player online mode should be fun.

With games like Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Manhunt 2, Guitar Hero 3, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Link's Crossbow Training, Trauma Center: New Blood, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there are going to be a lot of happy gamers this holiday season. :)

don't discount EA when it comes to their non sports wii titles. with Medal of Honor: Vanguard i have been very pleased. outside of retro studios with metroid prime 3: corruption, ea seems to have the second strongest handle on FPS controls on the wii.

PS: SSX Blur kicks ass to

32-player online FPS on the Wii? This has potential. I'm interested.

Wait...Nintendo will probably require everyone to enter 32 separate friend codes in order to play a match.

In the meantime, this logo...

...will continue to be a seal of "false hopes". Friend codes...ppsssh.

This is on EA's service, right? That would mean no friends codes.

Shit, when EA of all companies implements online for a console better than the manufacturer, you know something's wrong. :p

Just for the record. I've played many games on Nintendo WiFi and I've never swapped codes with anyone. You don't need the codes to play, just to have all features like msgs and voice chat and other stuff I couldn't give two shits about. In fact, I prefer to play online games this way. Look at Clubhouse Games for DS, you can still send msgs to opponents without friend codes but they are static such as "Good Luck", "Go Easy On Me", "Good Game" etc. The best part is if your opponent speaks a different language they get your msg in their language and vice versa.

32 player online FPS on Wii? I'll have to take a hard look at that, EA or not. Hell, they already got us to buy Tiger Woods for Wii. Why not a WWII FPS? LOL

Clubhouse Games is a bad comparison. When you're playing a FPS online with other people, it's sometimes extremely important to be able to convey your position, strategy, etc, with others on your team. Plus it's just darn fun to talk to them while you're playing. I really, really hope this game doesn't make you enter friend codes for all the people you want to play with.

In the case of an FPS, that is true. Still, friend codes are not as bad as they are made out to be. EA isn't using them and Nintendo isn't making anyone use them to get a green light for release on Wii. At least, IIRC. It seems as though some folks belive that without friend codes you're SOL, as in no on-line functionality. That is the falsehood I intended to correct. I wasn't trying to compare though it may have seemed that way. Only that you still get a msg option in Clubhouse even without friend codes. :)

EDIT: Just watched the trailer... Wii Arcade Mode has me sold. It's looking like the Wii is the savior of one of my favorite genres, arcade-style lightgun games. :D
