A few years ago I had made a wish list on half.com, and on thier games list it actually had california raisins listed (before the proto was found and dumped) so I put it on there just because, and today like 5+ years later I got an email with this listed:

http://product.half.ebay.com/California-Raisins-The-Great-Escape_W0QQprZ5965QQitemZ340352879395QQtgZvidetail s

only 1500$ for a 20$ repro? quite a steal ;-)

Don't most people who would even remotely know what the hell this game even is would research before dropping $1500 on it? That's what I'd expect as for most casual gamers don't have and wouldn't dare spend that kind of money on a single game, only a collector who knows the worth would (and wouldn't expect them to be the fool on this).

You would think, but I get an email at least once a month at Lost Levels from someone asking about the "proto" they just bought for $200 on ebay, it's usually Earthbound.

I can expect something like Earthbound for $200 because it's a sought after RPG by many new-commers. When one of my friends came back to gamming after a fews years of concentrating on music he instantly went for Earthbound, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior and Disgaea stuff.

if I were going to charge $1500 for anything .. i would at least get the title right.

they have The Great Escape, should be the Grape Escape.

They can't even get a fake listing correct.

How does anyone know that this really isn't THE prototype of California Raisins? I am not saying that it is but the seller is a big collector of prototypes as I have dealt with him on eBay in the past when he dropped some big money to buy some protos off of me.

if it were a real proto and not just a repro, why doesn't he have a picture of it? he's just using stock art for it, its really fishy to me.

I thought the same thing. I actually wrote him and asked him to send me some pics of the actual cart, board, and screen shots.

I didn't realize this was muresan, I tend to believe this is authentic now. Odd that there's no picture though.

Can you add pictures to half.com listings? I bought a few items off of there and I never saw anything other than stock photos. They seem to work like Amazon Marketplace seller listings, which don't allow pictures other than the stock photo. You can only add a text description.

So, I have spoken with muresan and have now seen the pictures and it sure looks like the real thing to me.

I also forgot to add that half.com made him remove the word "prototype" from his listing as it is an eBay violation to sell prototypes. Here is one last pic as well.

It looks real to me, from the pictures at least.
