What are some of you guys' favorite games that never made it as big, even notorious, as titles like Super Mario Bros. or Maniac Mansion?
Personally, I have a little thing for playing Three Dirty Dwarves for Saturn and Kickle Cubicle for my NES. Anyone?

YES! Alien 3 for Genny! Fun game, Ripley's cute and bald and brandishing a gun and blowing xenomorphs to bits...c'mon, gotta love it! :-D I still play it to this day, but haven't beaten the damn thing!
My initial thought was CHAKAN for Genny--definitely not high on people's lists. I dig it. Bloody hard, tho.
Otherwise my stuff is decidely above-ground...River City Ransom is as close as I get on the NES, maybe Section Z or Zanac...
How about Chubby Cherub??
EDIT: Wait, I keep reading that Super Double Dragon on SNES was way overlooked...does that count?

Thrasher Skate and Destroy for PSX, a fun skateboarding game, that is more like "real life" than THPS. I enjoyed it greatly when I rented it and am now thinking about buying it. :D

*** Fallout & Fallout 2 (PC) ***
Quest For Glory series (PC)
System Shock 2 (PC)
Stronghold (SSI original, PC)
Sorry to always bust in on your little console parties with my PC titles, but... but... I wanna! hehe
But, on the console front, Guerrilla War and Snake Rattle & Roll on the NES were both pretty good, and I think relatively less well known... And, Diner and Commando are great on the Intellivision (I know Diner was a late release that saw very little action in stores, I think the same may be true about Commando, but I'm feeling too lazy at the moment to pick my DP Guide up off the top of my monitor in front of me).

I had this game back in college and beat it a few times. It belonged to one of my roomates and was sad to see it go when we moved on. I just got it again at philly classic and I can't get by the second level, shit!
@butta: Kid Chameleon is one of my all time faves, a true classic.

Metal Warriors!
Best....Game......Ever! It was a konami game that was put out near the end of the Super Nintendo's downfall, so it never reached a widestream audience. Too bad though, because it has the best multiplayer engine ever created. I own damn near 300 SNES games and that is still my favorite. It is 'kinda' rare, due to konmai cutting production seeing as how the SNES was dying, but it is worth the money to get it. Evereyone, go buy this game, NOW!!!!!
