If my video card has RCA inputs, is it possible to hook up a Super NES to my PC? If so, what do I need to be able to play the SNES on my PC? If this is the wrong topic of conversation, please move it to a more appropriate place.

Thank you!

If you have a video card that allows for video-in it would likely have software for watching and recording television. In which case you could probably plug your SNES into it and turn to channel 3 or 4 and be good to go. Depends on your video card and if it has a tuner and what software is compatible.

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. Our computer has a cable coming in for the cable internet as well as picking up cable on the Windows MEdia Center Edition. I suppose I could just add in an RF module for the SNES, seeing as I realized that the RCA jacks on the card were for output.

Whenever I find my RF module I'll give that a shot. If it works I could hook up the Genesis as well. Oh I'm getting giddy just thinking about it! lol!

Well, I found my RF module rather easilly and decided to hook up the SNES. The RF module was connected to the cable going from the cable jack to the PC. I went into Windows Media Center to the Live TV function and tuned to channel 4, then flipped the power on my old, yearning for action, SNES. The game? Super Mario Kart.

Bad idea.

I immediately noticed there was a two second delay between what I was pressing and the actual game on the screen. Is this typical of this kind of hook up? I am thinking that this method was just not meant to be. Maybe I'll find a way to add in the SNES to the new big screen in the living room.

Weird! I've never tried to do this, so I don't know if this is typical or not.

I connect my video game systems to my monitor using a product called the "VGA Box". It converts AV signals to VGA signals, and I've used it for about 4 years without a problem. You can pick one up on eBay for about $25 or so.

Yeah, a delay is pretty common when going through the AV inputs on a video card. Those inputs are meant for recording really, so they usually have a lot of latency. I've heard that are ones specifically designed for live playing and they're usable, but I don't know specific model numbers or anything.

Is emulation really so distasteful? Just get a SNES controller adapter from RetroZone and use SNES9X. I find it pretty perfect once you get the resolution issues and filters worked out.

...word is bondage...

You might try to find other software that will work with your card. The delay could be from Media Center's wanting to recprd as has been said. Another TV program may function differently...
