Anybody else importing one the second they are available? Dual Shock 3 isn't coming to US till Spring 2008, and personally, I don't think it will be here that early either. They are assuming that the Microsoft-Immersion lawsuit will be handled by then, but I doubt it. Maybe late 2008. I'm not waiting that long. I'm going to import a Dual Shock 3, and pray that the rumble code is in the games, and that you only need the actual controller to make it work.

You *might* want to wait for the firmware update that enables the rumble before you import the controller...

Well, this is the big question... isn't it. Can one just import a Dual Shock 3, and use it with their US version Playstation 3, and their US version Ratchet or Uncharted, and will it actually rumble? Am I going to have to just import the controller, or will I also have to import the specific game as well? Supposedly both Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted feature rumble support and those are the two PS3 games that I'm most excited about playing this Holiday season. I want to experience those games with rumble. So importing a Dual Shock 3 from Japan isn't an issue. Of course, will I also have to import the Japanese versions of Ratchet and Uncharted to experience the rumble? Will I link my Dual Shock 3 with my American PS3, and maybe the rumble won't work in either case, because the firmware won't allow it?.... (that would truly suck). Honestly, it's hard to say, but I can say that I definitely want to play Uncharted and Ratchet, and I want to enjoy them to the fullest, and that means rumble. So I think I'm going to have to take a chance and get a Dual Shock 3 the second I possibly can.

I don't know, I really don't miss the rumble that much. In fact, I was playing a game on the PS2 recently and the rumble started and it really kind of irritated me. So, I guess I'll pick up a Dual Shock 3 when they are released here, but I'm not going to jump the gun and import one.

I don't have a PS3, I plan to get one eventually, but if I did have one, hell yeah I'd import a DS3. Sometimes while I'm waiting for my wife at the mall, I go into the game store and get down on some Ridge Racer or Motor Storm. I miss the rumble every time...the controller feels too plain without it. I've grown so accustomed to feeling rumble while my hands are in that position. Rumble is an improvement. I love it.

Sorry; gonna go ahead and rant a minute, here...

I love the fact that I now own two (2) obsolete controllers for my PS3. That's just fucking awesome. I realize that the new Dualshocks are in fact optional... but I have so dearly missed my rumble. Looks like Sony gets another benjamin of my hard earned cash, whether I like it or not.

I'm personally getting tired of Sony and Microsoft fucking things up constantly in this hardware iteration. Crap hardware, SKU shakeups, software delays, pricing debacles... If Microsoft releases a goddamn motion sensing controller,...

In any case, I don't think that your imported Dualshock 3 would work without the firmware update that enables it; at best, it would just be a very expensive Sixaxis and at worst wouldn't sync up at all. I'd just wait until it's released here to be on the safe side. And anyways, rumble in older games is going to require a patch on a game by game basis; who even knows when that'll happen.

OK. Thanks. /end rant

Importing Dual Shock 3's? Ok, your money, your business but, I don't see the point. Months ago you were bitching hard about the cost of the Wii control set-up but you're fine chunckin' $100 + the extra costs of importing out the window for rumble? You sir, I will never understand. X_x

Actually, I don't see what the big deal is either?

The first Playstations actually came out with no rumble controller OR analog sticks at all!

Sony released those later.

Second, I would be more UPSET that I have to download a file to be able to experience rumble with Resistance Fall of Man!

I Don't "take" my PS3 online! What then?

That is what is stupid!

BTW: I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but importing is great (of software at least). I wouldn't do it in this case, because without that update to your console, I too doubt your controller will work properly.

That being said, all US 60 GIG PS3 systems can play Japanese games right out of the box! They WILL NOT play Japanese PS2 or PS games, so keep that in mind!

Isn't rumble "last gen" according to Sony?

BUMPY TROT2

While I think importing the controller is kind of pointless unless you only have one SIXAXIS right now and absolutely must have a second controller post-haste, I really do hope that Bumpy Trot 2 makes its way over here.

Like, I don't want it to come over here remotely as much as Yakuza 2, but it'd still be super nice if Atlus found it fitting to localize the fucker.

I dunno I really like the light weight of the Sixaxis but I definitely want one when ever it comes out. I will import it from play-asia but the whole annoucne ment sucked I was hoping for a better rumble not the same shit. What ever happened to Touch Sense ?

wise ass they said they only brought it back because of the people bitching.. read what kaz harai said at TGS. Its back because of customer demand.

Doesn't change the fact that Sony said it was last generation. Why don't they just admit it was because of the lawsuit?

In case you did not notice there's already a DS3 thread on the first page.
