STUPID FAKE rom SITES!

I hate 'em. They claim to have roms but have nothing but pop-up ads and links to other fake rom sites. Why on earth wouild anyone create such a worthless website??? Grrrr...frustrating.

Probably for money. ROM sites aren't the only ones that are faked out there, I run into too many sites like that in all kinds of site types. :(

Because there are places who actually pay a small amount for any click (for example: www.allclicks.com - which doesn't allow ROM or any emulation-related site or you would see a lot more of them).

I remember a certain ROM release site that mixed in bogus links from allclicks (before they decided "no ROMs") and made enough to buy lots of games to dump and release. All the real ROMs were there (hundreds of them), but you had to watch which of the links you clicked. They also would put up links to phony games like "Penultimate Mortal Combat" right next to "Ultimate Mortal Combat".

nothing good can be found on the web.. You have to go under the surface of the net to where it takes a little skill to find things.. there you find everything you need..

Alot of times the "top sites" will have alot of rom sites which are either fake, down, linked off other sites, or lead you to a triple x site instead.

The only real access to mass roms in my book are newsgroups. I mean, where else can you get 13gb on N64 roms...umm..I didn't say that :)

Most of these fake romsites are easy to spot when using Google: keyword spamming.

They really used to annoy the hell out of me, but I've got used to which ones to trust and which ones not to now.

I guess it's a small price to pay for free games.
