Each of the four discs are named after the recent new properties in the franchise, but the music is solely from the original Final Fantasy VII.

But, yeah, very nice project, with a massive list of talented musicians and arrangements in just about every style imaginable. I'm not even a fan of the source material and I still think it's outstanding.

Haven't actually gotten around to listening to this yet.

(However, I did take the time to express my grievous outrage at the preposterous usage of uncompressed WAVs in the torrent rather than FLAC.)

It got good reviews being called the definite FF VII-remix.
Well, I love Nobuo Uematsus compositions. I havenīt listened to the full album yet. Some of what I heard was nice, but things like the One Winged Angel-remix with an opening in Atari-2600-sound are not my cup of tea...

I read about this the other week and have not gotten around to it just yet. I'm always interested in listening to fan remixes especially when it's done more professionally. However, really popular games like the Final Fantasy series get overkill with these things and although it gets hits, listens and a higher following there are so many other great games they could remix as well. They do have a forum for suggesting obscure games to be remixed, which is cool but it would be nice to hear a huge release of those games announced instead of a whisper.

Changing my original post entirely, again.

I have very mixed feelings on this whole compilation.

I understand how you feel, but the problem is that it's so difficult as it is to get these projects organized that it's all but impossible to get a whole huge group of musicians to rally behind a really obscure game. For obscure music, you just gotta look for individual tracks. Have you ever checked out Dwelling of Duels? The competitions do get some of the typical big-name stuff, but many of the frequent entrants like to pull out something really obscure now and then, especially for "free" months.

There are some nice OCRemix projects that haven't been the typical big RPG soundtrack, like Kong in Concert and Project Chaos. I mean, sure, Donkey Kong Country and Sonic 3 & Knuckles are pretty big games, but in terms of fan arrangements they're not nearly as represented as Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Zelda, and what have you.

You may also enjoy Bound Together, an Earthbound remix project that OCRemix declined to be associated with for some weird reason.

(Ooh, expanded it, have they?)

It didn't take too long to receive the FF7 sounds. I had to scatter to setup my speakers but the music isn't bad, rather pretty good. Currently there are seeds/peers : 461/346. Some of the OC ReMix users are requesting 1000+ seeders and that seems overkill since I'm not even uploading to anyone although I'm sharing.

I've been running that torrent for awhile, I'm at 50% and still have another 6:40 left. Right now there are seeds/peers : 3/4 and am getting a slow 8 KB/s so I might need to just pick up on it tomorrow, I hate leaving my main system up over night. I'm looking forward to it though, should be interesting.

You ever finish that? It's been slow going, and for some reason I haven't even been able to connect to http://tpb.tracker.thepiratebay.org/ (the torrent's tracker) for a while now.

Is thepiratebay the only tracker? I checked and there's a list of about ten trackers. But I did get my torrent from Isohunt, so I dunno. But I'm getting between 170-200kbs.

Music sounds awesome though. Thanks for posting this! Never would have heard about it otherwise.

Good call! I only see one other tracker in the Isohunt torrent (prq.to), but at least it connects. (Unfortunately, no seeds or peers at the moment.) I don't suppose you could PM me the other announce URLs, could you?

Damn, I didn't even know OC Remix was still around. I haven't been there since around 1999 or so when I stopped going to retrogames.com (I used to get a lot of emulation news from there back in the day...dunno why I stopped going). Anyway, retrogames used to report on new OC Remix tunes.

For some reason I think I stopped going there around the same time Qman decided to call it quits with his site. Anyone remember him? He had some great articles. I dunno why I remember it that way.
