Anyone else in the TF2 "beta" ?

To be in it all you gotta do is preorder the Orange Box off of Steam (preorder it and you get it for $45 instead of $50) and you can play Team Fortress 2 right now.

If you are not in the know, Orange Box has Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode 1 and 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. If you don't already own HL2 and episode 1 you can play those right away too but episode 2 and portal come out october 10th.

Orange Box also coming out for the 360 and PS3 but if you wanna play TF2 right now you gotta preorder it on steam.


Anyway, the game itself is awesome and hilarious. The amount of detail and humor in the game is great, and the gameplay itself is also very good.

I've been (surprisingly) enjoying it quite a bit, though I try to stick to just playing on goon servers. Those pubbies....ugh.. :(

Only have about 2 hours logged so far and I've been sticking with the soldier exclusively until I stop sucking with him and can move on to sucking with another class.

Yup, I've been playing it all week. This will be a great mulitplayer game for you console peeps. Excellent voice work, animations, classes, etc... It's like playing in The Incredibles movie. So cool. My steam name is geneshifter BTW ;)

roushi you should try out the other classes, maybe you will be better at one of them. They all play different so playing as soldier only won't make you a better pyro for example

There is no single player game. Team Fortress has always been a multiplayer-only game. I generally don't care too much for multiplayer-only games, but TF2 on goon-run servers is funner than hell.

In about 2 1/2 weeks when the Orange Box comes out, HL2 Episode 2 and Portal will be available, if that's what you're asking for. Word on the street is that EP2 is better than EP1 (which itself was pretty damn awesome) and if you're jonesing for a taste of Portal, try playing Narbacular Drop (http://www.nuclearmonkeysoftware.com/) (which was basically the prototype for Portal).

Have any of you guys heard that if you preorder in full at Gamestop, that you can get on the beta as well? I heard this on the IGN PC boards and went out to preorder it. I gave them an email address and I'm waiting to see if I get an email with my info. The bad thing is that the guy said there could be a 4 day wait for me to get an email.
