I finally broke down and bought a used xbox dvd remote to use with xbox media center. After playing with it for awhile, I accidentally found out that my RCA universal remote works too! Now I can use the same RCA universal remote to control my TV and digital cable as my xbox. How cool is that?

Sorry if this is a repost, but I was so impressed with this that I just had to share :)

what is the programming code for your universal remote?

Just for the record it's 0822.

But, I'm having trouble with a couple of buttons. I'm using the Comcast universal 3-in-1 remote.

Here are the buttons that work.

Info/Display
Reverse
Forward
Play (only sometimes)
last/back

Buttons that I can't get to work.

Select
Menu
Skip forward
Skip backward
Pause

So personally I'm sticking with the Xbox controller.

I use the xbox remote as well for my xbox media center. I'm really needing to find a new dvd drive to repair another xbox. I'm wanting to do another media center. It's nice to know that I can use other remotes with it.

I didn't have to use a programming code with mine, it just worked. I found out by accident.

I noticed that while turning up the volume on my TV the XBMC volume control came up, then I figured it out from there. If anyone's interested I can post a picture of my remote if someone wanted to acquire one. I think mine came with my RCA digital cable box, but since its universal you could likely get the same one elsewhere :)
