I picked up Scurge for DS dirt cheap. It's pretty fun but looks 100% like a GBA game.
What, if anything, are the differences between the DS and GBA versions?
Scurge Hive for DS has the map displayed at all times, so it's easier to navigate through areas. Other than that, they're exactly the same.

You are correct sir! :)
Great game that flew totally under radar. Buy it now!

Scurge certainly harkens back to the 16-bit era. It was the right amount of frustration, exploration, and solid gameplay. Definitely a good time.
Yes not much difference, but not having to stop to look at a map is enough of a reason to go with the DS version.

This is true, and I got the DS version because I found it dirt cheap.
Although if I ever found the GBA version cheap, I'd get that too, just so I could play it on TV with GB Player :D

i hated the game... just my 2 cents. seemed uninspired, repetative, needlessly difficult, shotty controls and overall very very budget-feel.
no differences that i aware of other than whats mentioned

I picked this up for $5 today. Got the GBA version. I bought it based on this thread so you bastards better be right!

Bravo for you Neuro! It has obvious drawbacks (very linear game progression and the isometric makes accurate shooting a pain in the ass when your pressed for quick kills), but at the same time it has a certain intangible charm. At the low price I'd honestly recommend this game to anyone for cheap thrill factor alone.

This game reminds me of an isometric metroid.
