I don't understand the ending of this game. Where's the huge battle in the big field on Earth? All of the stuff alluded to in the "Believe" ads is absent. No momentous event tied to MC's grenade, as we may have expected. Why did they release all of these ads, when they don't tie into the game at all?
I'm way confused, and disappointed. The ending was nearly as bad as Halo 2.

Hype & Halo are both 4 letter words...

How was the ending bad? You DID watch past the credits, right? There's like 4 minutes more to it afterwards.
I'm assuming the battle alluded to in the commercials is that whole battle in Voi land.

Good, I am glad someone started this thread. I have been dying to know one thing, mainly:
The Arbiter and Master Chief are both on the same transport at the end of the game. The Arbiter is in the memorial scene on Earth, yet MC and Cortana are adrift in space?
How did one get back to Earth, and not the other.
Of course they would leave it open to another Halo game. They need software to sell their next Xbox console :p
And please tell me, did any of you find the Warthog drive at the very end of the game a mighty bit annoying?

Cortana explains it. Half the ship was through the portal when it collapsed, so only half of it, the part with the Arbiter, got through. The rest was left at the site of Installation 00.
I didn't hate the warthog drive so much as I hated continuously falling off the side because I wasn't paying attention to what was collapsing :P

I liked the story. Better than most movies I've seen the last year.

Ah yes, Cortana does say that. But I still have a hard time believing that half the ship was left intact, either through the portal or still floating out in space.
Maybe that is the meaning of the "Belief" campaign comes from :p

Does anyone know if you beat the game on Legendary if there is more to the ending? Plan on doing that this weekend.
I personally really like the warthog drive. Nice throwback, and, so glad it was not too easy. If you have not played through that part multi player and tried to race each other with the warthogs, you must. It's a blast.
I fucking hated the Flood level. I had flashbacks to Perfect Dark Zero. "OMFG WHICH FUCKING WAY DO I GO" Almost broke another 360 controller.
So, How much longer until Bungie tie Halo and Marathon together and then re-release Marathon with updated graphics. Who's waiting?

I agree totally with you spoon. That flood level was one of the most annoying video game levels ever. You couldn't tell where you were going, and it was difficult to see, and you could easily get disoriented. On several occasions I was backtracking and didn't even know it!

So if the new, recently constructed Halo was destroyed, aren't the others still a threat? Granted the covenant is no longer an issue, but they're still up there ready to go.
And why didn't we even get to see Gravemind? Just a few tentacles after leaving us hanging after Halo 2? Ugh.
Superb game otherwise.

I was just talking to my friend that I played the game through with about that. After the bitch of a bitch that was the flood level, I was gearing up for a sweet boss fight. Sadly, it was not to be.
Gotta save something for Halo 4

I was told that the ending for Legendary is slightly longer. I think he said MC's ship (piece of ship) is heading toward a crash landing....

Nope. Same ending. Just floating in space waiting for Bungie to call and say it's time for another game.

Actually, people have posted the legendary ending to youtube. It's about a minute longer with the planet in the background with some kind of lights on it indicating that they're receiving the broken ship.
I really enjoyed the game and intend to become completely addicted to it on xbox live. However, as others have said the flood levels are maddening. There are literally thousands of those face sucking things running around and the longer it takes you to get through it, the more there are.
Also, the lack (and the lack in quality) of boss battles was disappointing. The boss battles were the easiest part of the game.

Really? I didn't notice any difference in the endings.

I just finished the campaign and, maybe I'm in the minority here, but I was really unimpressed by the ending. I guess I thought it would be more...grand? Uh, perhaps I fell victim to the hype train.
Overall though the gameplay was superb!8-)

Here is another question. When Cortana says that there is something through the portal that can kill the Flood without activating the rings, what is she talking about? All that happens is that the Flood goes to the Ark, for some reason, and get blown up along with it.
And what were all of those sentinels doing after finding the cartographer? I don't think that was explained either. The more I play the more holes I find in the plot. But, I also notice that some of the characters will discuss plot related thing during gameplay, and if you are not paying attention you can miss it.
