Random Game O' the Day: Top Gear Rally 2

Day 14.

The random generator chooses its first N64 game from the database, this sequel to the rally version of the now-veteran racing series. When they do Super Top Gear Rally Motorbikes 2, will we be surprised? Nah.

So if you've played this game before, what are your thoughts on it? How does it stack up to other Rally games like Sega Rally or V-Rally? How does it compare to other games in the Top Gear series? funny you should pick this one. i've been looking for a copy on and off for a while. when i was a-workin' retail, we never ordered it (my boss: "who needs another n64 racing game- they all suck!"), so we didn't get any. i kept getting outbid on ebay too, so i passed it up for a copy of v-rally 99. which was terrible (WAAAY too much pop-up and glitches that affected gameplay.).

i'm a pretty big rally fan- working my way through v-rally 3 now (incredible, yet infuriating at the same time). i didn't like the sega rally games too much- i prefer the traditional single car on a timed stage deal found in the colin mcrae, wrc, and other titles. as good as sega rally 2 was, i'd like to see sega tackle a non-arcade rally game (with real car physics and a great damage model). i did like the first top gear rally (in a bouncy, goofy nintendo sorta way), so i'm sorta curious as to how much better part 2 was... :hmm:
