OK, I don't mean for this to be in bad taste, it's an honest question.

Do you get games like Medal of honor frontline? Do they change it a lot? At all? Do all Human-related deaths in videogames still need to be referred to as robots that look like people?

Knowing some German gamesplayers means I can answer this partially. No, they don't get all games. Yes, they are usually censored if they involve such themes as you mention. And they are also rated so teenagers can't buy them either.

Recently the German government passed a law that any game over 10 years old now cannot be sold to anyone under 18, and all buyers must show proof of age before being able to purchase. This will hit German eBay a bit I would imagine as well as any attempts to educate German youngsters in the ways of retro...

well, i am from germany

on april 1st the law changed, from now on, games have age ratings like movies/dvds.. a game rated 16+ may only be sold to people who are 16 or older, same goes for 12+,18+ and so on

yes, in the past some games did not arrive germany (but not many), and if, you could import them. some games had green/blue/gray blood instead of red, some had robots instead of people (half-life...), nobody knows how the new law will affect this and selling on ebay and importing, we'll have to see, afaik anybody 18+ can still privately import any game he wants, but only private, nobody is allowed to import 18+ games for resale

hope this helps

biggest problem we have here is the 18+ rating for ut2k3, this means lan-partys with ut2k3 tournaments do only allow mature players, same goes for counter-strike(16+), oh and mentioning cs, here the blood was reduced but still red but corpses dont fall to ground, they just cower in a corner as if they were afraid, i don't know if any german gamers use this version as the 18+ was in stores too.

If there are, they probably wouldn't admit it right now, given the tense relations between our two countries.

Wasn't it Germany (or an orginization there) thatw as responsible for the censorship of the word 'ninja' in the NES days?

I think it's stupid overall, they can buy the game from another European country, easy.
