I don't get why anyone would still want to play 32x Doom. Even if you refuse to mess around with a computer, and you discount the Xbox port, the 32x version still isn't as good as the Playstation or Jaguar version. I would even put the Saturn version above it.

What if all you collect is Genesis/32X? Then, Doom 32X is a good choice, and the only choice :)

Then you're a fool with too narrow of a focus, and you need to broaden your gaming horizons. :p

Hey, that's not very nice now, is it? Where does your hatred of the poor old 32X Doom stem from? Just give in and admit that you do indeed like it!

32x Doom is missing like 1/3 of the game. That's my main beef with it. I also feel that the music could've been better, and they should've been able to have it without the border, but the framerate is decent enough. Definitely better than the SNES and 3DO versions, but not as good as PSX/Saturn/Jaguar or a lot of the homebrew ports.

I have to admit that I'm slightly obsessed with getting the best possible version of every multi-platform game (excluding PC/Mac versions and a few consoles). I figure if I'm going out of my way to get a particular game, I shouldn't go for anything inferior. I also own like 20 different systems. :p When possible, I try to do research on how the different versions compare before I buy any of them, and then put only the best one on my want list. There are a few games that I prefer to own multiple versions of, but for the vast majority, I like to just stick to only the best.

Fair enough but if a guy already owns a game like 32X Doom, then he might as well play it.

2600 Donkey Kong may be one of the worst versions of that game but I still play it every now and then because it is part of my 2600 library.

I don't go around buying every possible version of a game either but I was never a diehard Doom fan so the one version I have (32X) is the first version of the game I happened to get my hands on. I never played it on PC, still haven't to this day (just not interested in it that much), so I don't play the 32X version looking to play a hardcore session of Doom. I play the 32X version because on a given afternoon, I might feel like "playing something on my 32X" which you might agree is a lot different than "playing some Doom."

Same thing with Donkey Kong, I'm not a big enough fan to care about having the best version. As a result, the only version I own is the 2600 version and that is because I came across it in a thrift store or at a yard sale. So when I plug it in, it is mostly to "play something on my 2600" and not to "play some Donkey Kong." Sure it looks and plays better on NES, 7800 and some other systems but since I like rotating the systems I play on a regular basis, when I got my 2600 hooked up, I like to go through a few different games in my library and one of those games happens to be Donkey Kong.

But since this is about Doom, the 32X library isn't that big so if someone actually has the 32X, they might as well pick up Doom.
