Is anyone excited for Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions? First off, this game has potentially the most beautiful cover art of any game in the history of (US released) video games...

I will admit right now that the original FFT is my 2nd favorite game of all time (SotN is #1) and SRPG's are my favorite genre. That may make me a little more excited than most. Even so, this may be the first PSP game that is actually worth full price on release day (October 9th).
Screw the original PS iso file. This version features new movies, cutscenes, characters, job classes, enhanced graphics, and widescreen presentation. Reviews are excellent so far, this game is looking damn good.
And yes, I've been waiting for this game with more anticipation that I had for Halo 3.

I'm really excited, though it is just going to be another threat to my grades. :(

So it's not a sequal just another port/remake?
Eh... it would nice if they made the text scroll faster I suppose and/or skipable.

I liked the game, but I could never bring myself to slog through it again =/ I'm completely sick of twisted political intrigue plots. That being said, DA-YUMN that is some seriously beautiful cover art!

I purchased my copy back in June; I can't wait for this!
Jeanne D'Arc, FFT, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness.... It's a good time to be a SRPG nut with a PSP :)
G-Boobie, out.

I figured I'd bump this thread since I never saw any real conversation about it post-release.
I got it for Christmas this year and I have not been able to put it down. Bear in mind, I beat the original three times and I'm still fervently working my way through this one. I love the addition of the movie sequences, they are beautifully drawn and fit right in with the theme and story, almost as if they were meant to be there. Most things are as I remember them, but since the game was completely re-translated, I have had to learn the names of most locations/people/items/etc all over again.
Other things to change were some of the job requirements. Some skills require more JP than they had in the US version. Not a big deal, but now it does take a little longer to master certain classes. I can't say much about the new classes (Dark Knight, Onion Knight) as I haven't been able to get them yet, although the Dark Knight requirements are absurd IMO. I am still having fun building up something that resembles my old team.
You still wind up with more Gil than you know what to do with, especially if you take the time to grind and finely craft your characters.
This is not a completely perfect package, though. One of my biggest complaints about it is the slowdown. You really only see it during spell and special ability usage, but many times it it will cause the sound to go out of sync. It may seem like a small amount of slowdown, but compound that small amount of time over and over again and you can see just how much time is lost as a result. You will hear the sound of the impact before the skill completes its animation. My other very small gripe is the text size. The original had a very thin font that the PSP version also shares. Most times it functions well, but in some lighting situations it becomes very difficult to see.
Other than those small complaints, this is a great package that certainly should not be missed by FFT and SRPG fans. Oh, and yes the box art is quite stunning.

This has exclusively been in my PSP since October. I've finally managed to level all of my team up to the new Dark Knight class. I'll have everyone leveled up to 99 before I even get to chapter 4. It's the most fun I've ever had with a PSP game, even though I've beat the original twice on the Playstation (in 1998 and 2003, and I did everything). Fantastic soundtrack, rock solid strategy gameplay and tons of SRPG level grinding goodness.
I've got Disgaea Portable all ready and waiting to go once I finish FFT. I'm quite confident that I can last the entire year of 2008 with just these two games in my PSP.
