My first Stategy RPG was Disgaea for the PS2 and I've fallen in love with the genre since then. So my question is can someone make a list of games like Disgaea, or any stategy RPG that is good.
So far I own: Disgaea: Hour of Darkness; Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories; Phantom Brave; La Pucelle: Tactics.
Thanks in advace fellow DP'ers.

If you go back a little, Shining Force one and two for genesis(not sure if those classify as srpgs but they are fun), and obviously Final Fantasy Tactics.

Thanks I dont know how I didnt think of Final Fantasy Tactics, I know I have two copies of it; a GH copy and an original copy. Now the trick is to find it since I just moved 800 miles. I dont know if I even brought it with me, so I might have to wait until November when I go home for Thanksgiving to bring it down to Tennesse and play it. I know have Shining Force with me though, becuase I brought my entire Genesis collection. (All 679 games, 309 complete, 46 cart/manual only, 101 cart/box only, 223 loose games.)

I'll second the Shining Force series. Don't forget the non-genesis Shining Force CD and Shining Force III. As far as a series that hasn't been mentioned, a SRPG fan could choose any game with Ogre Battle in the title and be satisfied.

I just read a thread on the other board and someone was praising Soul Nomad for the Playstation 2. So I'm wondering; has anyone else check out this game? If so how is it?

Yea now that I thought about FF:Tactics I really wanna play it, when I get home I'm going to have to check and see if I brought it down here. Because i could only bring two car loads of things, so I dont know if I brought it with. Actually this might be interesting to someone, like I said in a previous posts I know I have two copies of it, the greatest hits version and the original copy. And I know for a fact the GH is in at least mint condition. But here's the whole point of this, I know the original FF:Tactics I have, is UNOPENED and factory sealed yet, I picked it up years ago in a bargin bin for like ten dollars. How much do you think it'll go for now?

Shining Force is great, if you can, track down a copy of Orge Battle and play some Military Madness on a TG-16 emulator.

Oh yes, Front Mission 3 without a doubt.
None of the others in the series come close.

You need Vandal Hearts (i actually prefer it to FFT).
Saiyuki Journey West is also very good (based on the Chinese Monkey legend) and Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle are must haves although rather pricey now.

Let me suggest Dark Wizard if by chance you have a Sega CD. It is in my opinion the greatest stradegy RPG ever made. It should also be noted that Kenji Terada, whom had a major role in creating the first 3 Final Fantasy games, is also the man behind Dark Wizard.
I have yet to find another game with as much depth as DW. I have spent years maping out character promotions and the location of secret items that are scattered throughout the battlefields. Not to mention it also boosts one of the most epic, stirring, orchistral soundtracks ever made for a game (or movie IMO). The only downside might be the graphics. While they are functional and certainly solid they dont look as good as some similar Genesis games like Vixen 357. I highly recommend trying out this often overlooked game. Its worth purchasing for the Sound Track alone.
