Ps3 hdmi problems

I have a ps3 and when I hooked up the hdmi to my old sanyo tv the hdmi wouldn't work. I took the system over to my friends who has a samsung hdtv and it worked.

I just came across a 360 with hdmi and it worked with no problem.
I don't know if the ps3 hdmi is broken or what. Why would the 360 hdmi work on the sanyo but not the ps3?

I test after each firmware still no luck. I held the power until I hear the beeps tried different cables no luck. I am stumped

probably a hdmi 1.3 handshake problem, my old set worked fine but my new one has problems (both sharp).

Yeah, most likely handshaking problems. Older HDMI devices don't like newer ones. They've steamed out most of the problems so that the issue won't continue to recur, but lots of people with first gen HDMI stereo equipment find that it won't work with newer TVs, DVD players, etc.

Thanks for the info. For the longest I thought my tv hdmi port was bad. I was surprised that the new 360 hdmi worked over the older ps3 hdmi.
