What games have you played so much, that you can beat them in a single sitting? Games you can beat without using a continue, games you've been playing for years, but you keep coming back to play more.
Anywho, here is my list of games I've probably beaten three or four dozen times each.

Donkey Kong Country 3; I can play threw all the level's (other than the secret world) in a single sitting and lose less then five times. (losing 5 times or less is a guess) Just a week or two ago I sat down and played threw all the levels, then went back threw and got all the bonus coins, then the DK coins. It took me three sitting to get all of that.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island; I can beat this game in one sitting, I've beaten it probably a dozen times, so if I want to beat it in a single sitting it takes most of a day. Thats not geting 100% in all the worlds.

Contra: I beat it for the first time in college about two and a half years ago. It's one of my favorite NES games, whenever I'm bored, or I have to go to work in an hour or something, I pop in Contra because you can play it for a short amount of time and get on with your day. I havent played it in a couple weeks, but I can usually beat it in a single sitting. I usually have to use a continue though.

Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3: I've beaten both probably four or five dozen times each, when I first got my Playstation it took me two months of saving my allounce to buy a new games so I didnt have many games. So I ended up playing Crash 2/3 over and over and over again. Now I can sit down and beat Crash Bandicoot 2, then Crash Bandicoot 3 in a sitting. Now going threw and geting all the gems, and the time trials is a different story.

Boogerman: I was in elementry school when I got Boogerman so I only got a game on my birthday, two or three for Christmas, then usually one or two threw out the year for good behavior, or good report cards or something. So I played the hell out of it.

Bubsy: Same deal was Boogerman

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Same deal as Boogerman and Bubsy.

Zillion and Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (SMS) both come to mind. In fact, I have beat Zillion in one sitting before (twice, actually) simply because there is no save function at all. I've never actually beaten Wonder Boy III in one sitting, but I've played through it over and over so much, that I probably could if the need arised.

I can easily get through TMNT Hyperstone Heist without continues I think, thought I may be mistaken. It's been several months since I have gone through it.

I also play through Goldeneye for N64 in one sitting once or twice every few months. That takes me like 30-35 minutes usually, without dieing on agent.

There are a few games I've went through in one sitting but most recently it was StarTropics on the NES. It's my favorite NES game so that's no big deal but I went through it without extinguishing all my lives inside of six hours or so. Did it in preperation for writing a review over the summer at my girlfriend's apartment while she was at work.

Hm.. Let's see...

Super Metroid
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 4
P.N. 03

That's all I can think of right now.

I suppose if I really wanted to, I could do Final Fantasy VII, though it's been about nine years since I last beat it. Final Fantasy IV is short enough I could possibly do that as well.

Space Harrier II (Genesis):

I can play through the entire game with one life. I know every movement needed to not get hit, and every enemy that surfaces (and when) throughout the entire game. It is the only game I can claim this to. It is also the first game I smoked weed with way back when it came it. Maybe that had something to do with it? Just for the record, I haven't smoked weed since then (1989-1990), and I also haven't been as good at any game since then as well! Hahaha! Needless to say, I have beaten it thousands of times. I just do it every once in a while when I'm feeling saucy...

I'm sure there are quite a few but i'll just repeat my "Super Mario 3" response.

I do know i'm a tad rusty at world 8 (from a recent play) but losing 6-7 lives when you have like 60+ in reserve doesn't bother me.

Here's a couple:

Mega Man X (can do in about an hour; funny enough, it's really the only MM I like)
Metal Gear Solid
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (actually, I'm tempted to get it on XBLA just so I can see how fast I can unlock all the achievements)
Super Mario World
Chrono Trigger (if I were to devote most of a day)

There's also a few fighting games I can 1CC, but I won't bother listing them. One interesting thing that I just realized is that I've never beaten a single Genesis Sonic game. I've gotten to the very end, but always stop. Some part of me just doesn't want to beat them.

Maniac Mansion - I can easily beat this game under 30 minutes, with any ending. It's not that hard really, but years and years of playing just makes it that much easier.

Resident Evil - I've beaten that one in a single sitting before, again not a very hard thing to do at a certain point.

Awesome topic! I totally remember playing Metal Gear Solid on the PSO over and over and over. I played it one time in one sitting, that was a lot of fun and hours =) Also, I near beat Resident Evil Code Veronica when it came out on the Dreamcast in one sitting =) Take care everyone.

That's pretty good work. It's not the easiest game out there, especially near the end... at least not for me. I suppose with some extra practice, and 6 hours to spare, I might be able to pull it off.

My usuals:
Super Mario 2 - all 7 worlds, no warping. I might not do it if I decide to challenge myself - like not getting any coins, mushrooms, or 1ups.
Super Mario 3 - all 8 worlds, no warping, no skipping any levels. Again, I might not do it if I challenge myself - the minimized challenge (can only power up when you ABSOLUTELY NEED it to finish the level, minimizing the number of coins you get, never matching all 3 cards).
G.I.Joe (NES) - all 3 quests
Super Metroid - 100%
Donkey Kong Country - 101%
Super Mario World - 96* (of course those two are easy enough when you get a ton of extra lives)
Contra - I've only done it on 3 lives maybe twice at most. 30 lives is beyond easy.
Adventures in the Magic Kingdom - meh... sue me. It's a reasonably easy game, and it's fun. I also know an easy trick to gain lives.
Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers - easy game. I've picked it up maybe twice over the last 10 years, and finished it both times.
Mega Man 2-5, and X. I've beaten Mega Man 1, but not frequently enough that it's old hat. And I still use the elec beam trick.
Bionic Commando - there's one level that gives me trouble, and only because my big TV screen is curved enough where I can't see a moving platform to carry over a bed of spikes. My small TV screen makes it no problem.
Super Dodge Ball - but only on easy and medium settings. The last guys got to me on the dificult setting.
Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout - easy game, and lots of extra lives available
Krusty's (Super) Fun House - each of NES, SNES and Genesis since they're almost the same game.
Super Star Wars series - on easy for each, Brave setting is way too hard.

I suppose I can add Super Mario Bros. as well... it gets a little hairy in worlds 6 and 7, but I beat them the last few times I tried the game without warping.

too much to list

Super Mario 64, Pokemon G/S/C (beating all the gyms and elite 4+kanto region), Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Sonic the Hedgehog 1,2,3, Sonic Adventure (story mode), Sonic Adventure 2 (story mode), Starfox adventures, Luigi's mansion, Zelda OoS and OoT, Pokemon snap.

I have a lot I can play in one sitting without dying/continues. You can't really die in pokemon games but I can play through GSC with minimal fainting. I can play the game through in roughly 8-10 hours (tried already several times).

I can't even count how many times I've played the two GBC Zeldas through.

For me, it would have to be Jet Grind Radio.

I've beaten that game so many times, I feel like I know Tokyo-to like the back of my hand. But everytime I beat the game, I still grin from ear to ear :)

Silly Kae. You HAVE to beat Rygar in one sitting, lol.

I knew what you meant, heh heh. I remember it used to take me four or five hours to go through the game when I was younger. I played it recently just for the hell of it and I beat the whole game in 2 to 2.5 hours. Not bad for not having played it in about 10 years.

As for other games, there's a shitload I could list, but I think many of them are in the "Games you can beat on one life" thread.

Great topic - my fave "kill 'em in one sitting" games have to be:

Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis - no continues but infinite shurikens)
Contra (NES - no continues)
Metal Gear Solid (PSX)
Ninja Spirit (TurboGrafx-16)

All four are like "comfort" games...

Donkey Kong Country - It takes about an hour and a half to beat it with 101%, but about 10 years ago I could constantly do it in 53-55 Minutes.

I havent played it in a couple weeks, but I can usually beat it in a single sitting. I usually have to use a continue though.

Back in the day me and my brother played Contra so much we'd play through the entire game without dying once. We even had a thing going if you should die then you get a nice hard punch to the upper arm. When I first started to play it again about a year ago, I've gotten extremely rusty since the last time I've played. Now I'm almost back to normal, some games the worst thing that would happen is I'd use a continue (without the 50 extra lives code LOL)

Ristar for the Sega genesis is another game I'd use to be able to defeat without dying back when it was a new game. And again I was rusty when I first got back into it, but I'm catching up.

Duck Tales - NES - Without a doubt one of the first games I ever won as a child, and still one of the easiest. So many hours of my youth spent playing this Capcom gem.

Gunstar Heroes - Genesis - Yeah, every time I play this game it's Christmas of '93 all over again. My cousin and I won it on Chirstmas night. A classic by all means.

Mega Man 2 - NES - I loved Nintendo way before I ever played this game, but once it came along, my fate as a gamer for life was sealed. This is the game that got me hooked. As a kid, I could never beat it in one sitting, but these days, thats all I can do.

Some games are fun to pick up and play when you need a quick relaxation. Plus helps to be able to beat them easily from playing so much. My list

Nes:

Ducktales 1&2
GI Joe
Super Mario 1
Darkwing Duck
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers
Talespin

Lot of capcom disney games but those were so much fun back in day, still can play thru them in 1 sitting. haven't lost any appeal.

Genesis:

Mercs (Arcade mode or Mission mode)
Toejam and Earl 1
James Pond 2
Gunstar Heroes
Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles
Tazmania 1
Gaiares
Rolling Thunder 2

SNES:

Final Fight 1,2,3 and Guy
Alien Vs Predator

As you can see I'm a sucker for shooters, platformers and beat em ups. Some of the simplest games bring the most enjoyment.

Midnight Mutants - Atari 7800. I have been known to run through (yes, that's the proper spelling, not 'threw') the game once as quick as possible by going through the caves and getting to the Superblaster before finding the regular blaster, bypass a boss or two, and gunning my way straight to the end. Then playing it again slower, trying to find all the diamonds and stuff.

Roadkill - GameCube/Xbox/PS2. This is easily my favorite game of all time, so I can happily go through it all in one sitting, even earning the title Road Lord before leaving Lava Falls.

Tower of Doom - Intellivision. It's a great little action game with RPG like elements, and when I play, I usually set it for the maximum amount of levels.

I-War - Jaguar. I've always loved this Tron-inspired tank game, and I can happily play all the way to the end. Unless it freezes on me, which that game has occasionally done.

There's loads of other games I can play through in one sitting, but I can't seem to recall most of them, for some reason.
