I just found a sealed Stack up, but it doesn't have the line on it, like other sealed normal sized NES carts... Is that normal? Anyone have a sealed Stack up they can check?

If it is kosher (and truly new) I won't be opening it. Shame, because it might actually give me an excuse to play fun with a ROB.

If you find tiny pizza crumbs and a cigarette butt inside the box, you'll know for sure that it wasn't REALLY sealed new.

This incredibly helpful information comes FREE OF CHARGE. Sarcasm is just another service we offer here at Digital Press.

I can't answer it, but I can give you some background info on "lineless" sealed NES/SNES games. They show up at Nintendo, but game paks have had a line on the back since day 1. I'm pretty sure they have been resealed, because there are SNES games that sport the lineless back and 3rd party NES games that sport the lineless back. I have no idea, however, why these games get resealed, or where, but it does seem to be a Nintendo practice. The only thing I can think of is that they were opened and resealed for inspection purposes, or they were sold at a discount to a major retailer like Toys R Us who might have had some special package going on at the time.

I don't suppose this means that you now have a spare Stack Up for trade does it? I've always wanted to play that one (since no one I knew had it). I love how Nintendo didn't even bother changing the title screen on Stack Up and Gyromite (they're still called Robot Block and Robot Gyro). Did anyone else notice that back in the day? I only realized it a few years ago.

Sealed copies of Stackup had the line. Ask Sir Mike Etler for sure (who must be doing way better *wink*), he's had several past through his hands.

Pizza and cigarettes could have come from the assembly line. Although in Seattle that would more likely be granola and marijuana 'shake.'

Well, this one looks new, but has no line. I got it for $7 at a thrift, and no, there were no others. It has a hanging plastic sticker thing on the back.

Remember, this game comes in an extra large box, so it could be without the line. Someone own one sealed who can tell me?

And sorry, Matt, I only found one, and I needed it. Wish I did have a spare or 20.

Slight correction, sir. ;)

Stack Up was shipped one of two way. Either shrink-wrapped w/o a horizontal seam or with a black sticker sealing the top w/o shrink-wrap. All of the shrink-wrapped ones I've seen (6 or 7) were w/o seam. I've also had some complete ones that had the sticker, though I've never seen one with just the sticker still sealed.

Now that I think of it, A guy at work who worked on Stack Up has a sealed one on his desk next to a plaque. I could stop by and ask to take a look at it for you guys, but it'll have to wait until Monday.

It seems like the honorable Stack Up king mikeetler has solved this puzzle. Thanks. Any further confirmation is appreciated.

Nice find, especially for $7!! :hail:

There really doesn't seem to be any shortage of the cart around... but what the hell happened to all the parts? :hmm:

Did they throw em out? Did the dog eat them? Did Funco just chuck them as people sold the carts? ARGH! >.<

I had to order a copy from Yahoo Japan to get a decent price for the pieces. Ended up paying like $50 when shipping and Celga surcharges are figured in... but it's MIB! Ya know, if we figured out how to make copies of these parts, we probably could make a tidy sum ... :devilish:

heh, i love these new smilies

Ive run across quite a few NES games that didnt have the line and when opened they were brand spanking new........ I dunno whats goin on with that.

And Ive run across Sega Games that I thought for sure were sealed and turned out to be used and ones I was sure were resealed and were fuckin new.

If anyone has a comprehensive identification guide for these things and how to tell if its legit Id be interested.

If anyones interested in knowing.. Videomation for NES doesnt have the line.

Or at least the one I opened didnt.

Unlicensed NES games typically don't have the line.

Licensed one's usually do, but obviously there are exceptions. I think it would be almost impossible to catalogue unless you have people who are willing to open their "sealed" games.
