I won a bunch of auctions for some NES games a little while back. After all was said and done I won about 40 games. The guy insisted on charging me $82.00 to ship them to me. I shit you not. Well I finally got the package today and while everything is as described I can't help but feel that what this guy did was criminal and against ebay rules.
The package weighed a grand total of 16lbs including what little packing material he used. I looked up the rate to ship from his zip code to mine via UPS Ground (The way he shipped) and found that the actual shipping fee was a grand total of $6.,65. That's six dollars and sixty five cents.
So now the time comes to leave feedback. What do you suggest? I'm leaning towards Neutral and describing exactly how much he charged me compared to actual shipping costs.
Is this fair?
One more thing, the 40 games that I won were for 40 separate auctions. If he gives me a retalitory negative feedback will I get 40 separate negatives or only one since it was all from the same person?

In your sitution I would not feedback netural but I would file a neg. complaint and also inform ebay themselves at the cost of sending the items and the amounts that you found out from UPS/USMail services .
I know there shouldnt be no way that these roms shouldve cost as much as stated even though I dont see what the cost of the winning bid was. :?

82 bucks!
I assume that he charged you for each individual package to be shipped separately, and I further assume he did not do that. God damn eBay fuck heads. The sad thing is that it's really not against eBay policy, I doubt you'd get anywhere with them.
If it were me, I'd email him again and tell him what the shipping was, ask him to justify the $82. Explain that for that price you expected him to ship each item individually since that's what you paid for. If it seems "unreasonable" to ship all of those things separately, then what's "unreasonable" for asking for a shipping discount? A MAJOR one, I might add.
God damn eBay fuck heads.

I'd love to file 40 negative to this ass but the thing is that I DID get the games. It's not like he just took my money and ran. And ebay DOES supposingly have rules against this sort of thing. I n one section of the rules it says that the seller is allowed to charge a reasonable handling fee but in another section it says that it's illegal to grossly over charge on shipping to compensate for a low sale price. This is supposed to protect ebay from people trying to avoid ebay's fee structure.
But you see the problem is that ebay doesn't seem to give a rats ass about stuff like this. In fact, I'm convinced that if you aren't one of their major sellers or a copyright holder then they simply forwarded all mail directly to their recycle bin.
I've sent them multiple emails and I've never gotten anything more than a generic automated response back saying that I'd hear from them within 24-48 hrs which I never did.
I'm just concerned that the seller will retaliate with 40 negatives himself even though I paid within a week (once I realized that ebay wasn't going to bother responding to my emails.

i'd wait until either he leaves all 40 feedbacks, or until the very end of the 90 days and leave 40 negatives for him.

Do you have a link to any of these auctions? I'm wondering if he's one of the sellers that specifically states they won't combine shipping, and still insist on charging the full shipping price per game, even if they get shipped together.

Here's a link to one of the auctions.

Honestly I liked Joe's idea of sending him an email asking why all 40 of the games weren't shipped separately since he wouldn't agree to combine shipping. Technically since I had won 40 separate auctions and he refused to combine shipping then I should have received 40 separate boxes at my doorstep.

You could try and leave 40 neg feedbacks but eBay only counts one from each unique user so your feedbacik woul donly make he seller's rating drop by one.
Try complaining to eBay under fee avoidance and show them the email that stated $82 in shipping and a photo of the package with the actual shipping charge. I'd expect $10 top for that lot (for packing and trip to P.O. on top of shipping charge) This just may wake eBay because they hate to lose a penny and if they find out you were charged that much without a dime being paid to eBay, they could really pressure the seller including suspension.

Well first off anytime I see I might be buying multiple items from a seller I always email and get it clear what the shipping charges will be.
And If I was you Griking I would have told that seller to stick those 40 games in his ass and charge a 70.00 handling fee to his damn self and call it even.

You shouldn't have paid for the auctions.

Well, here's where it bit you in the ass:
"WINNING BIDDER TO PAY $4.00 SHIPPING AND HANDLING FOR THE FIRST GAME OR VHS AND $2.00 FOR EACH ADDITIONAL GAME OR VHS. "
I'm guessing he was very literal about that and not about to break policy. I do agree that it was insane price to ship, but it was stated before you bid. As it was stated, I would think it's going to be a tough case to prove to eBay even though it could be considered fee circumvention.
