Believe it or not, I never played this game until today. Sure, I could have tried it out on an emulator, but I decided NOT to and just wait until I found a complete Genesis copy. That day came a few days ago (on ebay). Damn, it took some time to find this game complete. I searched ever day for months, and finally, a complete copy (mint) for $70. Maybe a bit high, but I just needed to have it....it just sounded so good in so many reviews.

Played it tonight, and man, worth every penny! I am a huge shooter fan, and this has got to be one of the best shooters I have ever played. It reminds me of Blazing Lasers in many ways, but just better :) I am loving it!

I am noticing more and more as I collect Genesis games that there are some really great shooters for the system. Lightening Force is another (although very hard in my opinion), and I really like Gaiares too. Aside from the most common shooters (Thunderforce series..etc), what others have you guys and gals enjoyed for the Genesis? And who else loves M.U.S.H.A. as much as me? :)

I didn't decide to call myself Dire 51 for nothing, you know. :D MUSHA absolutely rocks. It's been one of my favorites almost from the day it was released.

As far as other Genesis shmups, let's see... you already mentioned some of my other favorites. I'm also partial to Truxton, Bio-Hazard Battle and Whip Rush (despite being incredibly easy).

Phelios and Wings are Wor are pretty interesting. Both incorporate mythological creatures, rather than aliens. I tend to lead towards Phelios being the better of the 2.

I totally forgot about Phelios. That's another one of my favorites.

MUSHA IS an incredible game and worth every penny to get into your Genesis library. The music and the graphics are top notch and it's just plain FUN!!

I discovered not too long ago that my four year old daughter decided that she absolutely loved Phelios after she saw me playing it once. She begs me to play it every time I have the Genesis hooked up, but she can't quite pronounce the name, so she calls it Pegasus.

Yep, I'm raising 'em right. LOL

If we're not talking strictly 2-D shmups, Burning Force, another Namco gem, is a great 3-D shooter. The gameplay gets a little repetitive, but it looks and sounds fantastic and is worth checking out once.

Also check out Target:Earth if you haven't. It's got a unique blend of shmup and platforming. It had a few sequels on the SNES (Cybernator, Metal Warriors) but there's nothing like good ol' Target:Earth. Really, there's NOTHING LIKE IT.

If you've got a Sega CD, there's a sequel to MUSHA, Robo Aleste. Rare game, tough to find, but it's fun.

Sol-Feace was an awesome Sega-CD shmup, but the cart version for the Genesis, Sol-Deace, is identical except for the music and cinemas. Try it.

I picked up a really nice, complete copy a couple weeks ago for $5. I guess I ought to try it out.:-D

Hellfire and Raiden Trad are both decent shooters.

M.U.S.H.A
The game has some incredible Parallax scrolling, really giving some of the levels great depth.

M.U.S.H.A. is a great game....and an early title at that with the year 1990 on the label.....Oddly enough I've come across two of these (still have a loose one for trade along with other shooters) but no Wings of Wor yet.

Oh yeah, it's still quite possible to get this game cheap since many resellers don't know how to search the title properly LOL

Musha is great, and I play it from time to time. Let us not forget Elemental Master, a magic overhead shooter that is great....also under the Rennovation label for the US market.

…Raiden Trad…

The Genesis version is a well done port but default difficulty is easy:eek 2:

Oh how I forget Technosoft's Elemental Master! It is really a fine game too.

Genesis is home to many fine shoot them up games!

M.U.S.H.A. is a great game. I would also agree that it is worth 70 bucks. Hell, it was probably 30-50 when it was released anyhow.

I love the Renovation titles. I actually kid that I have a sub-genesis Renovation collection going on.

Ranger X and Gunstar Heroes come to mind.

I agree M.U.S.H.A. is a pretty bad-ass Genesis game.

Also, I have a semi-interesting story about MUSHA. About six years ago, three friends and myself came up with this idea in high school to collect video games for a console. With the goal of owning every single game. Between the three friends, one picked Nintento, one picked Super Nintendo, and one picked Playstation. Then I picked the Genesis.

My friend Levi (The friend that picked Nintendo) bought me a lot on Ebay. It was a Genesis and a dozen games. One of the games ended up being MUSHA, and I only payed 20 dollars for the lot.

Then I found this website and the complete listing of Genesis games, I printed it out and checked off the dozen games I had to realize that MUSHA was rare, and I was very excited to have MUSHA be my first rare Genesis game. Then within the first month of collecting I found two more complete copies of MUSHA, and a loose copy, I spent $10 on all three copies, and eventually used them as trades.
