I already know Gunstar Heroes was packed with one of these. The thing is that I picked up a copy of Greatest Heavyweights and upon opening, I found my very own free complimentary fruit flavored treat (still in wrapper! will someone slab and certify it for me...hardy har).I realize it may be a silly thing to keep track of, but did anyone compile a list of which Genesis games had these little guys packed in? I searched the forums and a list didn't come up. I was certainly surprised when I saw it in there. At first glance, my fiance and I thought it was an unused tampon that accidentally found itself inside the case (dumb in retrospect...but hey...we all know how some of these sellers store their games)!

Well I'll tell you one thing, I wouldn't want to store these anywhere where rodents are around...as my friend found out with his boxed M&M dispensers, the rodents will chew through and ruin the box to get the food inside.

I've never heard of this pack-in before....

Yeah, I remember these pack-ins. Not sure if anybody ever kept track however :) So, what we all really wanna know is...will you eat it?

I think fruit roll ups have a shelf life of like 500 years.

It should still be good. :D

It certainly couldn't be any worse than 20 year old baseball card gum.

Greatest Heavyweights did as well. And I ate it upon getting the game, so mine is obviously not "complete" ;)

Oddly enough I didn't eat mine out of my copy of asterix when I got the game back in the day and it is still sitting in the box with the game

How did theese Fruit roll ups looks like? Would really like to find the one for Gunstar Heroes and Dynamite Headdy (did they have something to do with the games or was it same for every game they apperad in)? And was they packed within the game boxes (=can I expect to find one if I buy a sealed copy on ebay;-)?

well whichever games they came with, all the ones that I got were quickly devoured while I watched the intros for whatever games they came with! and no, there was nothing special about them... just regular Fruit Roll-Ups packed in the box with the game... you might still find some on ebay, and they would surely still be safe to eat if you did, provided that no ants or some other vermin didn't sniff them out and get to them before you did! so if you really wanna find some, the most likely games to suspect of containing fruity treasures would be the kiddie games, or games that would appeal more to kids than to adults... that's why I'm pretty sure that TMNT came with one

I remember when they packed Fruit Roll Ups in Genesis boxes. I only got 1 game that had one included, and that was Landstalker. There was nothing special about it, just a Fruit Roll Up, but I had no idea how old it was, so I didn't dare eat it, and this was around 1995.

They must have only ran this for a limited time because I never got one in my copy of Gunstar Heroes.

Oh hell no. I didn't even like these things new. I'm not about to stick one in my mouth that has been "aged to perfection". Even if they have a shelf life of 500 years.

Actually. Mine says "FREE SAMPLE with this video game" with a jaggy explosion border (the kind you'd draw around your name in second grade when you were bored to death).

So far we have:

Gunstar Heroes (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=7067)
Landstalker (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=6512)
Greatest Heavyweights (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=7063)
ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=6321)
Asterix and the Great Rescue (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=7058)
Dynamite Headdy (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=6494) (Can someone confirm?)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Hyperstone Heist (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=7034) or Tournament Fighters (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=6830)?...or both?!?)

I'll be the first to admit this is probably a silly thing to keep track of, but I am sure some day another game enthusiast is gonna crack open one of his/her new Genesis games and have the same "a fruit roll up? wtf is this doing here?!?" moment. They'll eventually wind up searching the forums for answers. Answers we can provide now if we work together! ;)

I think Hyperstone Heist was the game with the Fruit Roll-up sample. I got TJ&E:POF when I was younger, but dont remember it coming with a sample. However, it's been over a decade so I doubht I'd remember something that minor now.

Bubba 'n' Stik came with a piece of Bubblicious chewing gum.

The obvious question; did anyone buy the game for the fruit roll up? Or was the inclusion of the fruit roll up influential in any way?

"I know Gunstar Heroes is one of the best games ever made, but man, $50....what, fruit roll up you say? Ring it up!"

Strange...I made a thread about this a long time ago, and I thought only Gunstar Heroes and Landstalker came with one. Good to know there was more!

Now, what flavors were there and did certain games come with different flavors? If so, you have much collecting to do in cart variations, BWA HA HA HA!

It was probably the other way around.

Oooh, what's this? I'll eat it. Oooh, it tastes good! Mommy buy me more!
